Hi all,
After months and months (and months) of going backwards and forwards I'm still stuck between Barney and Casper.
If (and only if) you like the names, please could you let me know which you prefer.
I'm a bit in love with both names.
Thanks all Smile

Icklepup · 26/06/2018 16:51

starkid · 26/06/2018 16:50

Caspar (spelt that way)

TatianaLarina · 26/06/2018 13:19

Caspar.

I don’t like the whole nn as name thing.

Flamingosnbears · 26/06/2018 12:46

Barney, but it is a personal choice go with what you love.
I love how Barney is so playful and I feel it would be good on a grown man to

lenalove · 26/06/2018 12:06

Barney! Love it! Casper a bit overdone imho...

BlancheM · 26/06/2018 10:13

I love them both, Barney especially.

Thank you to all the wonferful people who read my original post correctly ('only comment if you LIKE the names'). What is a 'proper' name to some nowadays will not be a 'proper' name to others.

Barney the dinosaur was big in the USA. However, I asked two classes of 4-6 year olds at our sons school (in the UK) and only two knew about the dinosaur. Barney (Barnaby) was a close friend of mine growing up and has turned out into such a lovely, successful man.
Yes Casper was the name of the friendly ghost, and that's what initially put my husband off. But if names which appeared in films were never used, the world would be quite a dull place.

As a family we're never doing to have a John or Peter, it's just not us. Our two sons have wonderful names and get nothing but positive comments. It also helps that they're wonderfully polite, intelligent, creative, loving and delightful little boys.

Once again, thank you to all those whom took the time to comment positively.

Caspar spelt this way is my favourite. Also love Barny but because my DC were little 20 years ago,I associate the name with a big purple dinosaur.

That makes no sense, it was Jesus' birthday, not Caspar's! How do you know Casper wasn't born in summer? Just because he turned up at a winter-born kids birthday celebration?

Not only that, but any shred of archaeological evidence pointing towards Jesus' existence suggests a March birthday, rather than a December one.

FaFoutis · 26/06/2018 08:35

Caspar David Friedrich (artist) was born in September. (Currently marking art history exams!)

Every Brendan and Bernard I know goes by barney! Maybe its regional!

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 26/06/2018 08:29

Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar were the three wise men so on that basis Caspar isn't appropriate forba summer baby.

That makes no sense, it was Jesus' birthday, not Caspar's! How do you know Casper wasn't born in summer? Just because he turned up at a winter-born kids birthday celebration? Smile

Caspar.

Barney isn't great unless you're a donkey or dog.

FaFoutis · 26/06/2018 07:20

Caspar.

AnyaMoondial · 26/06/2018 07:17

Barney! I know a Barney, he's awesome and really suits his name Smile

HJL2506 · 26/06/2018 07:11

Caspar, but with the "ar" spelling.

dingdongdigeridoo · 26/06/2018 04:31

Barney the Dinosaur hasn’t been around for a long time, it was huge in the 90s. But I’d be concerned that there would be a revival, like they did with the Teletubbies, and your kid would have people singing that awful theme tune at them all day.

Fabricwitch · 25/06/2018 23:44

I like them both, but prefer Casper Smile

Picknickers · 25/06/2018 23:36

Casper.

EdWinchester · 25/06/2018 23:33

I love them both.

Caspar, if I had to choose. I don’t like Casper spelling.

GimbleInTheWabe · 25/06/2018 23:29

Casper!

Sophronia · 25/06/2018 23:21

Casper.
