What names which were popular in the past haven’t yet made a comeback?

Susan was a name which you often heard in the 60s. And I went to school with a number of girls called Donna, Jacqueline, Nicola and Marie. And boys called Graham, Colin and Barry.

Will these names ever come back in fashion again, or are there a subset of historical names which miss revivals and will forever be consigned to a particular patch or 30 or so years other than the odd naming here and there?

I see names like Vincent, Dorothy (Dotty) and Aubrey coming back already.

Will Tracey ever make a return, I wonder? Grin

A lot of them have come back already, eg Mable and Dorothy.

I was saying to DNan last week how I’m looking out for her name, Patricia, to come back Grin

I think Sharon is coming back soon. It’s actually a lovely name with classic roots.

Many will no doubt come round again in their time. Some don’t, though. Dorcas and Horace seem to have missed the boat on the 100-year revival, for example.

Karen & Claire were popular for 70s babies. The latter might make a comeback, not sure about the first.

Have never come across a young Gavin either!

I can see Donna and Marie coming back round.

I always think this about Doris. A family name to me - perfectly nice in many ways - but somehow hasn't shaken off the old lady image yet. It was once a top ten name!
