What are the most overused baby names you know at the moment?

Trying to decide on a name for DC2 at the moment and would like something that won't seem "dated" in so many years to come.

There's a few names I keep hearing pop up at baby groups etc that feel a bit "faddy" and "of the moment" and would like to avoid that if possible. Hoping to avoid a name that becomes the Tracey, Sharon, David or Gary etc of this generation.

I've noticed a lot of names hyphenated with Rose, (which is an absolutely beautiful name) but kind of has the shine taken off it when its so overused in various combinations.

What names make you think "oh, not another one!?"

That darkgreener site is fascinating. It turns out my DC both have names that are declining. They are both not unusual names, much more on the classic aide.

Good to go against a trend, I have never been fashionable Grin

Evie. Which is my little girls name and was so uncommon where she was born till we moved back to England 🤦🏻‍♀️
Amelia, Alexis/Alexa, anything hyphenated with Rose/May/Mae (though I like Mae on it’s own) Ava.

Boys names like Theo/Leo, Toby, Harley ect

My son is called Luke and is the only one starting his primary school of 120 kids...

Yet I know 4 Lucas's his age.
Lucas is much more popular than Luke now.

I also know a lot of Theodores /Theo, Isobel/la, and J boy names

I think Ava and Ella are going to sound really dated in future. It's a shame, both very nice names but so over-used.

For boys I know loads of Finns and Jacks.

With girls ds's age (4) it's Olivia, Sophia and Amelia. New babies Eva/Isla/Ava.
Don't seem to be as many trends with the boys, maybe Jacob and Jack.
Having said that, ds starts school in September, there is another child with ds' top 50 name.( I have only met one other his age previously)and only one dc with any of the above names, so you never know.......

I agree whitesea. Both my dts have names that are always in top 20 but don't date as have been popularish forever.

Noah has been around for ever as has Ava, Isabel etc. I think the PP meant Noah has become a very fashionable name which means it will be easy to date the adult Noah’s age.

My daughter has what might be classed as a boring old fashioned name, but it never experienced a revival and became trendy. It has been in the top 100 names for years and years. I think that is the difference between a name that has been around forever versus a name that is fashionable. Though of course that is just my interpretation.

Rose and Grace as middle names. Boring.

My DDs middle name is Rose after my grandma who died the day after she was born! I was bloody gutted when I realised every other girl also has the same middle name!

Loving the fact that a PP thinks Noah's going to date! It's lasted a good few thousand years so far. (And no I don't have one!)

Round here it's Eve/Eva/Evie/Ava, Freya, Isobel/Isabelle/Isabella Noah, Oscar, Henry, William, George. (all of which I like). A name does not make someone boring. A rose is a rose by any other name as the saying goes.

Went to a toddler soft play group today and there was a mum with boys called Forest and Hunter. At one point she actuated shouted "Run Forest" :)
