I already have 1 som who is 5 called noah and he is so excited that hes having a baby brother and he and my partner wants to call him bear??

There's a kids clothes brand called Noah and the Bear.

It's a stupid name for a person.

Fine as a nickname but not as a real name

Use Edward or Theodore and have Bear as a nickname

I also know a Rupert who’s family nickname I was Bear when he was little (as in Rupert Bear)

My son has s friend called Orson. He spent the first 3 years of their friendship thinking he was called Awesome.

Orson means “bear cub” and had the advantages of being - 1- a real name and 2- unusual but not weird.

How about using a proper name but his home nickname can be Bear? you'll be setting him up for a lifetime of not being taken seriously if you give him Bear as his first name, their adults much longer than they are children.

Most children are excited to be getting a sibling. Giving them a say on the name of that sibling is weird IMHO. Decide it between you and your partner.

You're not naming a baby, you're naming a person.

Can you imagine a barrister or an accountant callled Bear? Of course not. It's a family nickname for a small child, not a proper name.

Only a child with celebrity parents could pull off a name like Bear. Any normal kid would get bullied for that name from year 2/3 onwards.

I know a few people whose parents gave them ridiculous names like Bear, and they all grew up to hugely resent their parents. One of them has gone NC.

I really like bear its cute but its just when my baby is older. I wanted other opinions as i love it but wanted to see how other people reacted
