Makes me think of Eugene Victor Tooms from the X-files. Also, my autocorrect wants to change it to eugenics, which is not a good association.

Hate everything about it - the sound, the meaning, the way it looks.

Gene sounds and looks better, Edmund is OK.

I don't really like it. It gives me a weird image of slicked bad hair and oily skin. I don't know why, maybe it's the way the name sounds when you pronounce it...

My weirdness aside, it is your child Grin Though maybe as a middle name?

I prefer Yevgeny, the Russian version. Eugene is just.... eh... I can’t explain it. It makes me think of a really old guy in a plaid V-neck. There are some names that are horrible in English but work in other languages for some reason. Like Irene in English versus Irene in Spanish, which sounds much prettier.

I like Gene, as in Kelly, and also the Guv' no r in Life in Mars.
