Jude or Rowan. What style would you say either of these names are? What would you expect a child with these names to be like? And of course-which do you prefer.
Trying to decide which one to pick, if either!

Rowan. Can't stand Jude

Shambu · 20/06/2018 11:37

I would sound her out. Could you bill it that he's being named after her?
Wink

We are leaning towards Jude but my nana is called Judy...would you run it by her first? I think she would be quite happy with it but I don’t know if I should ask her her opinion first? Is it weird?

Jude

deptfordgirl · 20/06/2018 02:06

I love them both. They were both on my list for my ds. However I am going off Jude as have met so many of them and it does feel a little faddy as lovely as it is. So I say Rowan.

Sophronia · 20/06/2018 00:42

Jude. I prefer Rowan for a girl.

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 19/06/2018 20:43

I have a Roan (16) and he loves his name.

Mammatron · 19/06/2018 20:25

Jude !

Octopeppa · 19/06/2018 20:15

I prefer Jude.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 19/06/2018 20:06

I know they are both unisex but I see Rowan as more of a boys name and Jude as more of a girls name so if you're thinking boy, then Rowan.
I do prefer it any way.

MariaMadita · 19/06/2018 20:04

I don't like Jude (maybe because it really doesn't work in German? Idk).

Rowan is fab.

toomanyeastereggsurghh · 19/06/2018 19:09

Love Jude not as keen on Rowan but do like Roman.

Bear2014 · 19/06/2018 19:07

Love Jude and Rowan. Both unisex really, but prefer Jude for a boy and Rowan for a girl. We know a baby girl Rowan who is a few months old.

Postymalone · 19/06/2018 19:03

Jude

daisypond · 19/06/2018 19:02

Jude by miles. Jude the Obscure, Hey, Jude, etc.
I really don't like Rowan for a boy.

MikeUniformMike · 19/06/2018 18:38

I really don't like Jude. Rowan is fine.

Dhakkens · 19/06/2018 17:39

Rowan was actually a boys name first Shirley and is still more popular in the rankings for boys. But thank you for your opinions.

Plus Jude rhymes with nude.

ShirleyWilliams · 19/06/2018 17:36

ShirleyWilliams · 19/06/2018 17:35

Jude - hate it, it's not a nice sound, and it reminds me of the yellow star of davids the Nazis forged the Jews to wear (Jude is German for Jew).

Rowan - girl's name. I would think it was a very weird name for a boy - probably hipster parents. I much prefer Ronan.

bridgetreilly · 19/06/2018 17:32

I prefer Rowan, but I'd say they are quite similar in the kind of person I imagine.

Dhakkens · 19/06/2018 17:27

Thank you Star but when I hear Ronan I hear Keating!Confused

I like Rowan. Prefer Ronan though, as a thought :)

Dhakkens · 19/06/2018 16:40

Thanks for responses so far! Jude seems to be the favourite at the moment.

Agree with PP who said Rowan is a bit wet. I think like that about Jasper too.

Jude is really cool, go with it.
