Alice or Isabelle

DC2 is going to be a girl! Alice and Isabelle are my top 2 choices but I'm not sure which one to go for, any opinions? Surname is 2 syllables and ends in an 'ee' sound.

Weirdly enough my sister is called Isobel Alice and our surname also has 2 syllables ending in an EE sound! So I'm obviously biased but I think it's wonderful. Sorry to hear you've gone off it :( Nancys quite nice but a little bit Oliver Twist and I really hate Ruby. Probably because I had about a trillion kids in my last class called either Scarlet or Ruby haha.

I liked Ruby for a second until DD1 became friends with ont at school.

Thanks everyone, I think I have gone off Isabelle/Isabel/Isobel. DH thinks Alice is 'a bit posh' and that my name suggestions are too 'royal baby' but he hasn't ruled it out. Other choices on the potential list are Nancy or Ruby - any thoughts?

Isabelle is beautiful. Alice is ok but not in the same league as Isabelle.

Alice. I am biased as I have a 6 year old Alice. Not a fan of Isabelle in general though.

I like the sound of Alice Ivy

I prefer Isabelle , personally feel as though Alice is a bit older fashioned ... how Isabelle Alice is a nice combination , or Isabelle

We had the same choice to make 10 years ago and went with Alice. I'm glad we did, at the time there was no other Alice's around us. There's a few now but it's not as popular as Isabelle.

Alice Violet is beautiful, really quite classic.

DN is Isabel, no one ever spells her name correctly, she's often called Izzy and her parents hate this. I also knew a dog called Izzy.

I know several Alice’s, plus two Alys (one pronounced the same as Alice the other Ay-lis)

I’m a Brownie and Guide leader and have lost count of all the Isabel/Isobel/Isabelle/Isabella but I still think it’s a lovely name (Isobel is my favourite spelling and the one I’ve seen the least) and I like Izzy as a nickname

They are both lovely names, but I just slightly prefer Isabelle I think, although the spellings Isabel or Isobel are better IMO. Of course Isabel/la has been extremely popular over the last decade or so, as I'm sure you know, so if that's a consideration then Alice.

Alice Isobel Ivy

Isobel Alice Ivy

Alice Isobel Violet
or
Isobel Alice Violet

Obviously the spelling of Isobel is up to you. I prefer Isobel.

Having 3 names is fine.
The British aristocracy have about 5 each Smile

Isabelle is nice but very popular and Alice is nice but very popular.

Isabelle might get shortened to Izzy when she is older?

Love Isabelle. Not keen on Alice, I find it a bit mouse-y/frumpy. Much prefer Alicia. If you're really struggling to decide between the two, you could always use one as a middle name - Isabelle Alice / Isabelle Alicia sound lovely.

Alice Matilda or Alice Violet- just beautiful. Never shortened and always spelt correctly.
