Scottish girl's names

We live in Scotland, I'm Scottish and OH is Irish.

Baby will have a very obviously Irish surname and we're keen to give her something recognisably Scottish and not Irish as a first name. I'm a Gaelic speaker and hopefully baby will be too. We love Isla but it's so popular now and I already know three baby Islas!

Any thoughts?

Fiona seems to be getting used a bit more now.
Merran sounds nicer than Mirren.
Iona or Skye are lovely but not too popular where I am in Scotland.

I have an Annie and a Jeannie.

Merran is a name used here in Shetland, I prefer it to Mirrin/Murron! Softer sounding!

Out of the other suggestions given, I like Elspeth, Ailish and Vaila. I actually don't like Eilidh. Too close to Ellie for me and doesn't have a nice feel to it.

Olly I'm in Scotland and never heard of Marsaili - it's beautiful! How is it pronounced?

I've heard it most commonly as Mar-SA-lay and a Gaelic speaking Western Isles friend is known as MAR-shlee.

I know one Marsalli, she’s early 30s.

Agree Eilidh is nice, also like Rhona. Ailsa is my favourite I think, I know a 50 year old and a 15 year old Ailsa.

Lynsey, or any other spelling..... Lindsay (boy) Lindsey, Linsay, Linsey etc etc etc. I know it used to be really popular in the 80's, but not heard it used for a wee one in ages....

Olly, there's a wee Marsaili in one of the baby groups I go to and it's such a lovely name (I'm in Glasgow).

Loads of Eilidhs (and an Eilidh-Rose) in baby groups so it feels a wee bit overdone to me but if you love it that's what matters.

My name is Kirsty and it’s Scottish but yes Siobhan is Irish, it’s my girlfriends’s name. Funny enough we are both Northern Irish though lol.

Bonnie (my gf gets this as a nickname and i really like it)

We pronounce Eilidh, aylee but have found outside of Scotland to say that it's like Hayley without the H.
We've have lots of weird pronunciations but I think the best was eyelid!

I like Ishbel.
Agnes is making a comeback - I know a baby Agnes and a couple of Floras. Adult DDs know a few Kirstens and Kirstys.
I also like Iona

Eilidh used to be really uncommon up here (I never met another one for years and always had to spell/pronounce it for people). It's become much, much more used and I meet lots now. I feel a bit like it's maaaaybee done to death. Sorry!
