I love both names, but would spell Adelaide like that.

DuchyDuke · 03/06/2018 20:10

Adelaide NOT Adalaide. Gabriel isn’t that great.

FordPrefect42 · 03/06/2018 20:06

Those are nice names! I believe the first name is spelt Adelaide though, as it’s a place in Australia. :)

FP42 🙂

EdWinchester · 03/06/2018 20:04

ironic

EdWinchester · 03/06/2018 20:03

I love Gabriel - it was on our shortlist.

Not Adelaide though. Ande certainly not spelt wrong.

toomanyeastereggsurghh · 03/06/2018 20:01

Like Adelaide but prefer Adeline or Emmeline.
Gabriel is ok but really don’t like Gabe which is often used as nn
If you like Raphael what about Rafferty nn Raf or Rafe?

Cosmoa · 03/06/2018 18:36

I think they're both lovely and I don't think the spelling matters. Not to me anyway.

Lookingforspace · 03/06/2018 18:20

I love Gabriel. Not keen on Adelaide but NN Addie is nice. Def spell it the correct way though.
And Adelaide the place was named after one of Victoria’s daughters. Saying it’s not a name it’s a place I’d like saying Victoria’s not a name it’s a place.

TatianaLarina · 03/06/2018 18:19

Great names Hawaiian, congrats!

HawaiianPartyBunker · 03/06/2018 18:18

I have a Gabriel and a Raphael - we always get loads of compliments about their names!

TatianaLarina · 03/06/2018 18:16

Raphaela ^

TatianaLarina · 03/06/2018 18:16

Love Gabriel and Raphael (and also Rapahaela). Don’t like Adelaide.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 03/06/2018 17:35

Adelaide (Addie), is lovely.
Sorry, I don't like Gabriel.

Winchester13 · 03/06/2018 17:04

I love Addie as a nickname

Movablefeast · 03/06/2018 16:54

My 17 yr old daughter has a friend called Adelaide, she ALWAYS goes by Addie and hates the long version if her name.

Gabriel - Gabe is a great name. Historic and masculine.

Sophronia · 03/06/2018 16:49

I like both, but prefer Adelaide spelled this way.

Winchester13 · 03/06/2018 16:40

Yes you’re right haha

Pretty sure the Calamity Jane character is 'Adelaid Adams'

Winchester13 · 03/06/2018 13:49

The name from calamity jane that was supposed to say!

Winchester13 · 03/06/2018 13:49

My cousin lives in Adelaide. But I liked the name Calamity Jane haha

OP posts:
Winchester13 · 03/06/2018 13:47

The name can be spelt both ways. Oo I love Raphael too

bridgetreilly · 03/06/2018 13:38

Adelaide's a lovely name, and it's definitely a girl's name which happens to have a place named after it, not the other way round. I'm not a fan of Gabriel, though.

CorianderSnell · 03/06/2018 13:11

Adelaide the place was named after a person! It’s a pretty old name

luxurybiscuit · 03/06/2018 13:05

'misspelt'. Ah the irony!

luxurybiscuit · 03/06/2018 13:04

Definitely not the mis-spelt version with an 'a' but it is OK, does Adelaide have a special connection for you (like the baby being conceived there or you meeting there etc?), always seems odd to me when people call their kids place names (India, Paris, Atlanta etc) when there is no connection or they haven't even been there?!

I prefer Adeline too & Gabe is lovely.
