Polly Isabella?

This is our choice if the baby is a girl.
Surname is one syllable.

Thoughts?

Love them both. I know an adult Polly who is very successful, and also the very opposite of weak or girlie so I associate it with her. I think you can go as frilly and fanciful as you like with middle names, and I think they flow nicely.

Polly is nice. I’m not wild about Isabella but it’s OK.

PI- has the potential to spell other things if she gets married and changes her surname.

I take your point, Fartniss, re Polly Toynbee's professional name - but she does come from the very well-known Toynbee family and her name was never going to hold her back at all;.

Polly isn't Polly Toynbee's real name, though. Her name is Mary, and Polly is a traditional nickname for Mary.

Fair enough, but she's still chosen to go by Polly professionally and it hasn't held her back.

I've taught kids named Betsy-May, Poppy, Milly, Maisie... these names are going to be/already are commonplace so it just won't be a hindrance at all. Plus it's lovely.

I always think of Polly from Fawlty Towers, when I watched that as a child, I always loved the name. My mum's name is Mary, so although I'm not so keen on Mary itself, I think Polly is a lovely alternative and one you very rarely hear, if at all. In all the schools I've worked in over the years, I haven't heard one Polly.

Thanks for the comments, I think we'll go with Polly Isabella.

I would do Mary nn polly personally. Love both names so would be a bonus! I think Mary is very pretty and underused and polly is fab

Polly isn't Polly Toynbee's real name, though. Her name is Mary, and Polly is a traditional nickname for Mary. If it was Mary Isabella with a nickname of Polly, I'd be all for it!

I absolutely love Polly. Having a girly name certainly hasn't held back Polly Toynbee.

A bit of a tongue-twister, whereas Isabella Polly wouldn't be. If it is going to be Polly, then I think a middle name beginning with a consonant would work better.
