Yay! and I'm so sorry it's taken so long to get back. Illness swept the household since small children are both germ factories and an incredibly efficient distribution system all rolled into one cute package Confused

Here goes:

This unusual name of Greek origin has graced the ranks of rulers and Oscar winners. If you have a preschooler familiar with Aunties programming, then they may be quite familiar with this name

The composer is Aaron Copland and rock n roller is Elvis Aaron Presley.

My next three sentences get a bit odder!

They both refer to two common ways of pronouncing Aaron.

  • Is this man an island? Like the Aran Islands, or the Isle of Arran. ("Arr-ruhn").
  • Or is his name (partly) floaty light? references the "Air-on" pronunciation. Air being floaty light... and "partly" as it's only the first syllable, so part of the name.
  • "Only he can tell you, out loud", is the clue that there's more than one way to pronounce it.

(Although I know that many MN name geeks will disagree and that the Air-on is the one and only true/historical pronunciation... but I'm not getting into that debate!) Grin

Yep, we've worked our way through all of the Thomas Prime movies at least a couple of times Blush- the freebies certainly! DS1 is obsessed and DS2, at a year old, is also following in his big brother's shoes. It could be worse...(Paw Patrol, I'm looking at you)... Grin

It's not Stewart. The final sentence tells you you'll know how to pronounce the name when it's spoken, "Toe-MAY-toe, toe-MARR-toe" sort of thing...

@finallychangedmyusername on paper it sounds too much as a name, but my colleague Calliope is really lovely and the name suits her brilliantly. Although she does say that everyone comments on how cool/great/unusual the name is!

DS is a recent Thomas convert so I await the Calliope episode with interest Smile

Haha, if I'm honest, my love of Calliope comes, in part, from Thomas the Tank Engine (there's a whole episode about a calliope). Ah the joys of toddlers! Grin
