Violet's middle name?

EffieP · 28/05/2018 12:36

I love Felicity; I think it's similar in style to Violet and has a sweet meaning but hubby prefers the name Ottilie. Ottilie is lovely but I don't think it fits well with Violet as there are too many L and T sounds in them both. WDYT?

I'd appreciate any suggestions you have too! We are having a tough time trying to find the right middle name! Thanks.

^^ Great choice Wink lol. Thank you. I think Everly flows really well with Violet! We've yet to go through all the suggestions here as we've had a hectic few days but I think if we stick to either Ottilie or Felicity, it'll be the latter Smile Xx

Violet will be the name we choose if we have a girl. I love Violet Felicity it's so pretty! Names I've considered for middle names are Everly, Lily and Ivy x

Ooh, I love Elodie! It has the same melodious feel to it as Felicity. Thanks ^^

I'll show all these to my hubby and try to make a shortlist with him.

Grin the US pronunciation is wrong tho...

Violet Imogen, someone suggested above, goes very well.

I just wanted to say thank you for all the suggestions so far. We seem to have gotten mixed feedback on Violet Felicity but I think most agree that Ottilie is too much so I can at least tell hubby that others agree with me on that point lol.

I like short sharp two syllable names with Violet, Marie was on our list of 3, went with Suzy in the end but wish I had chosen Susan actually.

I agree ^^ Violet ends in a sharp T sound which doesn't work with Ottilie. I think Felicity works because it's soft and sweet and even though it has got a T sound to it, they're different in sound and it's not so harsh sounding in Felicity.

Violet is a family name, Ella. It's my husband's grandma who he was very close to and sadly lost as a teen. It was the obvious choice seeing as I've always liked the name too. I think it would be nice for her to have a non family middle name especially as most of us all have the same family names as a middle on my side of the family lol.

Violet Felicity is great, go for it!

Ellasshitholekitchenpjpiigp · 28/05/2018 13:31

Is there any family members like sisters you could use as a middle name, my 3 DDs all have mine or DHs family members as middle names so all have a similar classic feel to them even though they have modern first name. Middle names used are Rebecca, Molly and Rachel

userabcname · 28/05/2018 13:11

Violet Felicity is nicer imo.

Ohyesiam · 28/05/2018 13:03

I know it feels like a big consideration when you are naming someone, but on the U.K. the middle name will never be known to anyone outside the close family.
It Italy it legally forms part of the signature.

EffieP · 28/05/2018 12:59

Yeah, I think Elizabeth is out! ^^ WinkGrin

Well, Violet Elizabeth of course..

Violet's middle name?
EffieP · 28/05/2018 12:58

I'd prefer to stay away from middle names like Rose, Anne, Grace, etc especially as Violet's popularity seems to be on the rise. Our surname is short so a longer middle name can work. It begins with a R but I agree we need to be careful of initials if using a middle beginning with a vowel lol. Thanks for your replies so far.
