Seen this somewhere else before and it threw out some brilliant names and unusual choices so....
your guilty pleasure names, names you love but perhaps wouldn’t use

I just love Pandora, Pan for short. But I just couldn’t do that to a kid, could I?

Also Arriertty.

susurration · 16/06/2018 12:12

Everly for a girl, but it's too close in sound to my own name.

Probably most of the greek/shakespearean style names like Hortensia or Titania or Horatio. Not names ever heard where we live and sound really wanky with our northern salt of the earth surname.

AsleepAllDay · 16/06/2018 10:47

And Grania or Shéhérazade - couldn't do that to a baby even though I have a hard to say name myself. Damaris

AsleepAllDay · 16/06/2018 10:45

Gisela! Too much of a mouthful for others I think

mathanxiety · 14/06/2018 22:28

I love Dinah too, Pandarific, and you never hear it.

I LOVE Dinah. It's so romantic!

trueblueari · 11/06/2018 18:35

Just saw Amaryllis mentioned - Amaryllis and Esmeralda are beautiful names but I think they have to be consigned to guilty pleasures.

If I have another DD though, I'm using Esmeralda as a middle name (with a one syllable traditional first name). So I guess it's only a guilty pleasure as a first name!

trueblueari · 11/06/2018 18:33

Nectarios. As someone with no Greek background I couldn't get away with is, but I love it.

My daughter's name has been mentioned :) not sure what name to give the sibling we're about to start trying for though as it's a hard name to find an equal to!

I adore Caspian and Caspar but dh isn't a fan. Athena too. Minerva was the other choice for DD but I'm wondering if it's a bit too much so it may stay a guilty pleasure!
I love Darius nn Dare but that was also vetoed very early on.

SingingSands · 06/06/2018 21:58

Also: Panda!

How could I have forgotten Panda?!

SingingSands · 06/06/2018 21:57

Lacey
Cookie
Candy

Those were my Barbies when I was a kid. I was TOTALLY going to grow up and have babies named thus.

Wahahahaha 😂😂

(I must say that I didn’t use any of those names!)

zeebeedee · 06/06/2018 21:38

I like Jennet (could be nn Jen/Jenny if the recipient didn't like it) but it's the name of the 'Woman in Black' in the Daniel Radcliffe horror film, so maybe not.......

plus the fact I have 3 boys, and not having any more DC

JaretsGirlfren · 06/06/2018 20:50

Athena
Clementine
Gabriel

historygeek12 · 06/06/2018 20:45

Ooh my daughters name is on here, indianna, still love it so does she she’s 24! Smile

babyinthacorner · 04/06/2018 00:05

Winter, Autumn, Summer, Dimitri, Raphael, Aster

DS was VERY nearly Raphael. And then we plumped for a name he shares with approx 6 other children at nursery Confused

Picknickers · 03/06/2018 23:46

Autocorrect. Jonnie not Bonnie.

Picknickers · 03/06/2018 23:45

Jonquil for a girl nn Bonnie. Daren't even suggest it!

jeanzbeanz · 03/06/2018 23:31

I'd love to use Barbara or Olive for a girl, but don't think I'd dare!

Cartier for a boy or maybe Everest would be my pick!

But will likely use something much more classic.

confusedyoungthing · 03/06/2018 17:31

Saylor and Taurus for girls

Atlas for a boy

AlReef · 03/06/2018 17:07

Phoenix :)
