And why?

My friend had baby 5 weeks ago and has no idea what to name her. Her older daughter has an unusual name and wants similar for this one. She has to register by June 1st!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

DS was named at 7 days while DD was named at about 28 days. We were playing with names as we couldn't settle easily. We only agreed DDs middle name at the registry office door at 6 weeks. We are very happy with both DCs names though so it was worth taking the time

We named DD as soon as we found out she was a girl at the 20 week scan. It’s a family name which we knew we would use if we had a girl, and I’m glad we did as DP and I could not agree on a single boys name.

You only get 3 days where I live (non-UK) so we didn’t have time to mess around Grin

All three of mine were named in the delivery room, and we didn't know the sexes beforehand.

With my first, she was named within 3 hours (only because I was bleeding heavily and had a team around me working on getting it to stop) but she was named as soon as I could hold her.

With my twins, DT1 arrived and he was named within 2mins of being placed on my tummy, and DT2 was named similarly quickly 23mins later Smile They both "looked" like names we had in mind if they were a particular sex (although we swapped them round as DT1 did not look like what we named DT2!)

I was always of the opinion we have 9 months, give or take, before they arrive which is plenty of time to have some names ready, or to go from if the baby didn't look like a certain name. That's just me though, but I do think taking weeks to name a child is a bit long really.
