Love Sol (but Solomon shortened to Sol). Or Saul as a full name.

Can you not give full name on BC and use the diminutive? Eg Solomon , Cassius, none of these are really to my taste but by giving the longer name it gives DC more options later in life. Ray just reminds me of a drunk fifty odd year old who will go on to die of liver cancer, but that's just my experience

Flynn is the nicest of the bunch.

Ray isn't too bad, but prefer it as a shortening for Raymond.

Prefer Saul to Sol, but both are very Jewish.

Flynn is the only name I like out of those. Lou is arguably the worst, it's a girl's name. An alternative would be Louis. I like Sol, though only as a nickname for Solomon. I like Cass when short for Cassian, Cassius or Caspar, but it feels incomplete on its own. However, if you definitely hate all longer version, out of Lou/Sol/Cass, Cass would be the best. Ray is nms at all, such a dated name, but it's not that bad.

Sol is my least favourite and Ray my favourite. I want Ray for our baby but my DP won’t accept any shortened names so insists on Raymond which to me is an 80 year olds name Sad.

Another who thinks they just sound like someone is using the first syllable as a shortening. Except for Flynn. Flynn does stand alone although not my particular taste

Thanks. We like short names and need something short and sweet to go with a complicated surname. Flynn seems popular but it’s the one I like least! Confused

It feels like a list of half names. Out of them I like Flynn but not the others.

Ray- love this name. It's short, sweet. It also suits a person of all ages, so it'll grow with your child. Also it feels like a full name by itself, not just a nickname.

Cass- as short for Casper, but not a name on its own, too cutesy.

Flynn- I like this name, it seems to be a polarising name. Lots of people think it's a bit dated. I think that's why Finn is becoming popular in its place.

Lou- only as a nickname for Louis/Lewis. I don't think it's strong enough to hold up as it's own name. It is fine on a child but not sure how it'd go on a man.

Sol- I think of Grace&Frankie. Sol is a good name, very Jewish sounding (think Soloman) so good if you wanted to honour someone Jewish, or have Jewish roots. Also can mean sun in some languages, which is nice.
