We've come across this name today. Mn will likely be James surname is double barrelled but normal. It means immortal or divine which I think is nice.

What do you all think?

To me it's a flat-capped Yorkshireman in his 80s, sorry. I think there was one in the James Herriot books.

If you love the name, how about using it as a mn instead? James Ambrose sounds lovely.

Thanks all for your input. It'll be staying firmly on the list for now whilst we sound it out for a few weeks. I really like it but I'm not sure I can imagine naming my son Ambrose - time will tell!

We like that it's a 'real' name but also not very commonly used.

I'm not sure the custard/rice pudding reference is putting me off - being pregnant it kind of makes me want some! 😂

This us my mates name. He is in his 50s.
I associate the name with him as he is the only one I know! He is a top bloke, a good laugh and his family are great fun so it is a positive name for me.
That said, he us known by a shortened version of his surname!

There are a few schools near me called St Ambrose which also I associate it with

It's an interesting name idea though, it is a proper name (though people may think it's a modern made up name) and I think the right person could probably pull it off. It sounds very hippy-ish or a celeb name.
