Blossom or Dolly

I know these names won't be everyone's cup of teas but I have a 3 year old daughter named Heidi Rose and I really love how Dolly sounds with Heidi , 'Heidi and Dolly' but ever since I was a teenager I have had a huge love for the name Blossom.. what do you think? Smile

Dolly is marginally better than Blossom, which is only suitable for farm animals.

I guess we just don't have the same taste in names.

Dolly is fine if its a diminutive of Dorothy or Dolores, I wouldn't use it as a standalone name.

Not mad on Blossom but it's cute for a pet

Could you use Dolly as a shortening of anything (pp suggested Dorothy) and use Blossom as a middle name? Ignore the posters saying they sound like dolls names or stripper names or anything (which they aren't), all that matters is that you're happy with your choice.

Dolly is one of my names. Dolly or Trixie. I got slated on here for them as they are 'stripper' names. I actually got my inspiration from two old family/friend members 😂

Dolly and Dollie are childish though. Having a "sweet" name does a girl / woman no favours when she wants to be taken seriously. At least give her an adult middle name to fall back on?

Much prefer Blossom to Dolly. I think it would sound nice with Heidi.

There's a little girl at my son's nursery called Dollie-Mai I don't usually like unusual names but think it's quite sweet

Heidi is a lovely name but Blossom is a horses name and the most famous Dolly (other than Parton) is a sheep.

Most of those named Dolly 80 years ago will have had Dorothy on their birth certificates though.

I think Dolly is sweet. 80 years ago, it was a very mainstream name so nothing wrong with an adult being called Dolly.

You’re not just naming a baby, she’ll be an adult at some point. Can you imagine a 40 year old Dolly or Blossom?

Go with what you love!

I like less common names more individual names too and I prefer Blossom over Dolly.

I'd be tempted to give them a more standard middle name that they could use if they preferred when they're older.

I really like them both but I would have used Blossom if I had been braver!

Have you heard the James Taylor song ‘Blossom’- one of my all time favourites- it might sway you!

My LO is called Dolly after my grandma and honestly I've never seen a child suit there name more. We do also call her by her middle name which is a 'normal' name so if she dislikes her name when she's older she can always go by that. Although tbh I have a normal name and people still managed to think of stupid nicknames, I'd have much rather had something a little different

Please pick a normal name, like Heidi.

OP already has a daughter called Heidi.
