I'm a teacher and have taught 2 girls and 2 boys called Eden. I also know 2 newborns called it. I prefer it for a boy.

I know an Aeden (boy) pronounced Eden - its a boy's Manx name

Sorry- didn't mean to be intrusive. I'm just interested in why people choose unusual names, that's all. and it used to be much less common thing to do. I was wondering whether there was a story behind it. As you were.

I I know it's biblical-but as a place, not as a person. Do you know why it's a name in your family?

Bertand it means full of delights. It is my grandfather’s name and he was named after his grandfather. It’s very old fashioned but as with many names with biblical relevance seems to be becoming popular again

Having boys I'm irrationally annoyed about boy names being taken over by girls. I hate most boys names and the pool of them is shrinking.

I know I'm being ridiculous though, no need to tell me Grin

This is so interesting, I think historically it’s a boys name but girls have taken it over. I think others like Aubrey are going the same way!

Interning that so many people think it's a boy's name- there hasn't been a year in the past 20 years when there haven't been at least twice as many girls than boys.

Well, according to 16 sets of parents last year. As opposed to the 141 who spelt it Eden..
