Which is your favourite? And what sort of person do you picture with each name?

My favourite is Heidi but I like Ottilie too. Dislike Verify

I see Heidi as a fun loving slightly fiesty individual

Ottilie as a very kind and nuturing person who is quite intelligent

Verity as a stuck up and two faces person who would walk over anybody to get ahead

LoveInTokyo · 22/05/2018 20:54

Heidi and Verity are both nice names.

Ottilie is awful.

kaytee87 · 22/05/2018 20:53

Verity or possibly Heidi. Don't like Ottilie

keyboardjellyfish · 22/05/2018 18:31

Don't like Ottilie, feels a bit much. Kind of just reminds me of oats!

I love Verity, for some reason I picture Violet from Series of Unfortunate Events who is one of my favourite characters ever. Brave, super clever, kind, caring and pragmatic.

Heidi I like less because it reminds me of the book but it is generally a nice name.

robotcartrainhat · 22/05/2018 18:18

Like all these names but LOVE Verity!

ellalouise90 · 22/05/2018 18:17

I have a 3 year old named Heidi Rose and she is constantly getting compliments! Biast I know but don't understand how anybody could not like the name Heidi I personally think it's the most gorgeous name 😍😍

daisypond · 19/05/2018 19:31

Verity is nicest.
I'm not keen on Heidi - far too cutesy, and slightly ridiculous in a grown-up. Heidi in the book is short for Adelheid. The English equivalent is Adelaide, so maybe you could go for that, with Heidi as a nickname, though I'm not wild about Adelaide either.
Ottilie keeps coming up on these pages. No-one will know how to pronounce it. I don't like it, for all the reasons people don't like it.

blinkineckmum · 19/05/2018 18:37

Ottilie - French. A bit otter-y
Heidi - German. Wholesome
Verity- British. Precocious.

I like Heidi

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 19/05/2018 18:36

Verity nn Etty?

Jammycustard · 19/05/2018 18:35

Verity.

Def not Ottilie.

BubblesInMyTea · 19/05/2018 18:29

Heidi ❤

KataraJean · 19/05/2018 15:16

Definitely Verity

It seems a 1940s name to me, sophisticated.

Ottilie is a ballet dancer; Heidi is Swiss with pigtails.

RavenWings · 19/05/2018 15:08

Verity is gorgeous.

Really dislike Ottilie, reminds me of Utterly Butterly and otters.

Heidi is ok.

Onceuponatimethen · 19/05/2018 15:02

Seems your three names are quite marmite op - or Verity and Ottilie are. Maybe Heidi less so although personally I’m very much not a fan!

deptfordgirl · 19/05/2018 14:16

Verity

dillytilly · 19/05/2018 13:23

All gorgeous names, I think Ottilie is really lovely though x

MikeUniformMike · 19/05/2018 13:19

Heidi. Ottilie makes me think of Utterly Otterly or Attila, and Verity is too Ferrety.

gwen25 · 19/05/2018 12:50

Verity by a mile.

Glumglowworm · 19/05/2018 10:47

Really don’t like Ottilie, thankfully have only encountered it on MN

Heidi or Verity are both nice

MammieBear · 19/05/2018 10:06

Adelaide rather than Heidi with Heidi as a Nn or Ottilie. How about Odette?...

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 19/05/2018 09:47

Definitely Heidi, a pretty name.
Verity sounds harsh, to me.
Ottilie, a bit over the top.

Frosty66612 · 19/05/2018 09:17

Heidi is lovely and in my list of favourite names.
Verity is ok but not one of my faves.
I really dislike otillie

felicitythemangyfox · 19/05/2018 09:15

Heidi

Ottilie sounds pretentious.

Verity is OK although might seem a bit odd on a rebellious teen

Onceuponatimethen · 19/05/2018 09:11

I know one toddler ottilie - who is based in the south east

TempleOfBlooms · 19/05/2018 08:20

I know three Ottillies under three so it’s v popular in my part of London. One goes my her full name, one by Ottie and one by Tilly. I quite like it but it’s definitly an off the moment middle class name.

I adore Verity.

Heidi is a bit twee
