If I love Arlo...

What other names might I like?

DC3 is due in Sept and both dh and I love love love Arlo but it’s so popular (in NZ) that every time I’m at the park I hear it at least twice and that’s just a bit too much for me.

I’m struggling to find anything else I like as much though. Dh has suggested Walter, Jed, Kai, Clarence, and Ari.

My suggestions have been Ennis, Theo, Ezra, Harry and James.

Any suggestions that we might have missed?

Otto?
Arty?

Thanks Lost I think Kai and any Kai nn are off the list for good as we will probably be here for some time. I do wonder about the little boy at dd’s preschool as I believe the family is South African so probably wouldn’t have had any idea about the name meaning before they came here.

I really like Cassius! Will see what dh thinks. Thanks again everyone!

OP, I remember a midwife at antenatal classes telling us to be kind and considerate when naming children. If you are going to be in NZ until your DC is at upper primary school (when the teasing starts!) then it would not be kind to call him Kai, and, as someone else has mentioned, there's the Wayne Rooney factor too... I'm not a kiwi but have been here for a while, and have never come across a child called Kai, or Milo for that matter, as it's a very nice drink when mixed with milk Grin.

I love August, Emre, Angus and Atticus (although my dniece is called Harper and they live very close would that be too much To Kill A Mockingbird?)

Cosmo has become a new favourite though so thank you to everyone to suggested that one and for all the other great suggestions.

I think we might use James for a middle name.

We have Arlo on our boy shortlist. The other names on it are:
August (NN Gus)
Joel
Asher
Ianto (pn yan-toe - this is probably.my favourite but I don't know if it would be too weird to use it as we're not Welsh)

I am not keen on Kai, it reminds me of Wayne Rooney - but that’s probably not an issue in NZ. Also love Otis as someone else has suggested.

LucyJ61 · 17/05/2018 19:24

Bram and Ludo are good shouts too!

LucyJ61 · 17/05/2018 19:23

Cosmo is a cool name and goes with Piper and Ivy. Also: Jago, Diggory, Wilbur, Monty.

My nephew is called Cosmo - he’s such a beautiful, cool kid. In fact all the Cosmo’s I’ve known have been cool

I like Milto and Sholto too. (Not so keen on Arlo).
