What would you choose? Girls options

We have a very common surname - Smith
It’s got to point myself and DP have chose a couple of names each and wondered what other people’s opinions are.
I like - Maya, Leah, Nova, Indie
DP likes - Harper and Ella. He also agrees on Maya but not set for sure.

Well I guess I’ll rule out Nova considering people’s opinions and fact DP seems to hate it lol! Just need to continue saying the rest along with surname and see what fits best. As suggested I’ve looked at “official” names for Indie but I’m not keen on India etc

You have great taste OP. I like them all apart from Nova. Leah is beautiful and I love Harper and Indie.

Sorry, not a fan of Nova. I’m not hugely keen on the way it sounds and in Latin it means ‘new’ - fine for a newborn but perhaps not later on.

I like your other names though, particularly Indie. I’d be tempted to find a formal name for the bc though, but that’s just me!

Leah and Harper were both on our list if DS1 was a girl. Also Alannah and Dylan.

I love Leah and Harper equally, both fab names

I like Harper best from your list.

Maya I would pronounce May-ah so it could get annoying having to correct people.

Indie I would have as short for India.

Ella and Leah are quite popular names.

Nova doesn't even sound like a name.

I love Indie the best. It's a really pretty name. I like the spelling Indy a touch better but regardless it's beautiful :)

Maya and Leah are nice. I don't like Nova. It means "doesn't go" in some languages as well. I don't like Indie either unless it was short for something longer. Harper is too surnamey and very "influenced by celebs". Ella is fine. I think you could go with slightly longer names, personally, if your surname is short and plain.

A lot of different opinions for sure! It would be mya I’d b considering if maya is pronounced differently!

Keep saying each one with your surname and you should get a feel for which sounds best.
I think with a short surname like Smith you could definitely go for slightly longer first name and it would sound good.
From your list I think India and Harper sound the best but Nova Smith just doesn't quite right to me.

Leah would be lee-ah
Maya is what I thought was easy option since both agree but don’t like idea of how popular and it’s not quite felt like “right we’ve found the one” if u get me. Just wanted bring it down to a few options

Nova is my favourite, and I don't mind Leah. There are too many Ellas around & Harper is too surnamey for me. Indie is cute but I see it as a diminutive.

I know it's popular, but if you both like Maya it's the obvious choice.

Harper is a surname.
Ella nice but popular.
Nova - awful.
Not keen on Leah - Lee-ah or Lay-ah?

My favourites are Harper and Leah. I actually don't think of the Beckhams at all with the name Harper, for the record.

I love Nova but DP is dead against unfortunately. I’m still trying to let it grow on him tho so mentioning it a lot lol.
Yeh Maya is Mya, personally I think I’d spell it Mya but I think in general people tend to spell it Maya?
