Hey all ,
We just found out we are having a Girl!
Stuck between the names Aria & Evie
Any thoughts on the names ?
Also does it look silly if the middle name doesn't flow as much we wanted to use a grandparents name to honor them which is Sarah
😀

Oops, so sorry, thought I had read to the end of the thread but obviously hadn't! 😊

Flymetothestars · 12/01/2020 09:46

@tamarisk44 they’ve already named her Ariaonths ago

@Kiaa thank you so much for updating the thread. Aria is a gorgeous name and the name I would also have chosen xxx

I think Aria is too faddy. If you went with Evie instead of any longer versions she could always shorten to Eve if she wanted to as an adult.

Sarahlm123 · 11/01/2020 23:54

Aww that's lovely!! We have an Aria to 🥰

Kiaa · 11/01/2020 21:45

We went with Aria middle name Skye
love it suits her so well 😀

Eve Sarah

Nicknamed Evie. Aria is OK but doesn't go as well as Sarah. Eve sounds classy and Evie sounds cute for a little girl.

Lavenderblues · 11/01/2020 17:18

Sarah is much nicer and less overused than either Aria or Evie.

mamablondie · 11/01/2020 17:15

Aria! I think it’s lovely, I personally dislike Evie it seems to be everywhere and a bit ‘cutesy’ for me. I’d be inclined to name her Evelyn and Eva/Eve for short but that’s just me x

PlantPotting · 11/01/2020 17:06

I love aria! What did you choose @Kiaa

Sarahlm123 · 11/01/2020 09:08

Out of interest what did you go with in the end ?

ICantCopeAnymore · 12/05/2018 20:49

Aria is very popular at the moment because of Game of Thrones' Arya. I also teach a Tyrion Grin

Saying that, there are three Evies in my current class.

JumpingFrogs · 12/05/2018 20:46

Aria sounds a bit gimmicky. I think I would go for Eve Sarah, nn Evie

Ivegotfamilyandidrinkcupsoftea · 12/05/2018 18:45

How about Ariana?

Ariana Sarah

daisypond · 12/05/2018 18:42

Aria is a full name, not a diminutive, like Evie, so I prefer Aria. I'd never assume a Game of Thrones reference, as it's pronounced differently as well as spelled differently. The Aria I know - in her 30s - was so named because of the music reference, and long before GOT TV series.

Marcipex · 12/05/2018 18:16

Evie, Evie Sarah is really nice.

Aria is vv popular now.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 12/05/2018 18:12

Aria is very Game of Thrones. In the future it will be like Neighbours fans who called their kids Kylie. Even though it's pretty, I'd avoid on the grounds that it will date very quickly.
Also Evie goes much nicer with Sarah.

chezmk1988 · 12/05/2018 16:39

Aria because I see Evie as a nn for other names not a name in its own right

Menime · 12/05/2018 14:18

I prefer Evie but I think Aria is less popular.

duckling84 · 12/05/2018 14:13

Aria is quite popular but everyone will assume you like game of thrones and that's where you got it from (even with the different spelling). It is nice though and if you don't mind that then go for it.
I personally prefer Evie, at least it cm be shortened to Eve.

Mrsknackered · 12/05/2018 14:09

Evie

MikeUniformMike · 12/05/2018 14:07

Evie definitely. Don't like Aria.

Glumglowworm · 12/05/2018 13:35

I’m not a fan of Aria although not for any objective or specific reason

So Evie for me

I only know 2 Evie’s but it does kind of blend into Evie/eva/eve/Ella/Ellie/Erin

Tumbleted · 12/05/2018 13:24

Aria is a bit too trendy for my liking! I know a few and I think it will age badly. That being said I prefer Evie as a diminutive for a longer name x

Eenymeeny123 · 12/05/2018 12:44

Aria is beautiful but I also think Eve nickname Evie is lovely too. I can never understand the fascination with middle names having to suit the first. The middle name is rarely used anyway so what's the problem. I always think first names are the names you like and middle names are for recognising close family.
