I once worked with a person who'd gone to school with a girl called Myrtle Turtle. I have never stopped loving that.

Any others?

(Not in the spirit of taking the piss out of people's choices, more in the sense of acknowledging parents' genius)

Annette Kirkton.
Poor girl would have been fine anywhere else in the world, but no, she went to school here, in a town with a district called Kirkton pronounced "curtain," rendering her "a net curtain" forever more.

Wildlingofthewest · 17/05/2018 21:43

Her sister was called Star if I remember correctly.....

starsandstuff · 17/05/2018 21:34

When my dh was at uni, there was a person called shithaed. Pronounced shi-thay-ed. The lecturer doing a register for the 1st study group hesitantly just read out shit-head, obviously they couldn’t think how else to pronounce it. Pretty embarrassing all round.
