Please could I have your comments on the baby girl names below? As with our last DC, we are struggling to make a decision and I don't want this to drag on and on... we have an unusual surname too which doesn't help! In no particular order:

Clara (DH not keen)
Thea (DH not keen, I'm unsure of correct pronunciation but love it anyway)
Leonora (feel like it's too unusual and will get misspelt)
Adriana (love it but does it sound a bit harsh or maybe even pretentious?)
Mia (feels a bit weak)
Erin (love this but DS is Ryan so don't know if they sound too similar)
Ava (maybe too popular)
Ella (maybe too popular)

I love Leonora - it really isn't difficult to spell. Also love Clara and Adriana from your list. Not too fussed about the others.

I can't imagine there being any other siblings in the world called Ryan and Leonora. (Not that this matters...)

buttonup26 · 10/05/2018 18:02

Leonora

bridgetreilly · 10/05/2018 18:00

I like Leonora nn Nora.

BikeRunSki · 10/05/2018 17:11

Leonora, and how would it get misspelt? It’s spelt exactly as it sounds.

Icklepup · 10/05/2018 17:10

I like Leonora!

lifechangesforever · 10/05/2018 16:16

Ah I get it now, I'm in Yorkshire and I think everyone will pronounce like I do, suppose if they don't it's no big deal.

I already know my stepdad will pronounce 'Fear' though because he never pronounces his 'TH's' !!

AnyaMoondial · 10/05/2018 16:12

Ella and Ava are great names. Personally I wouldn't worry about popularity if those are the names you really love, after all, why should everyone else get to have your favourite names and not you?!

But I also suggest Cara because it's brilliant.

SlowlyShrinking · 10/05/2018 15:45

Leonora is nice. Do you like Lydia?
I find Erin a bit boring tbh.

Cliveybaby · 10/05/2018 15:43

What about Leonie?

Freyanna · 10/05/2018 15:39

I like Erin.

Cosmoa · 10/05/2018 15:38

Adriana, Leonora and Erin! Others are boring/overused!

JumpingFrogs · 10/05/2018 15:36

I love Clara, but guess you might have to rule it out if dh can't be persuaded. Personally I find Ava, Mia and Ella are pretty but a bit dull. Not so keen on Adriana, and I do think pronunciation would be an issue. I think Leonora and Erin are both lovely and I don't think Ryan and Erin are too similar. So my vote would be for one of these two, neither is too over-used.

Sharonthetotallyinsane · 10/05/2018 15:31

Leonora.

Def not Adriana.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 10/05/2018 15:30

The first four names are all really nice, OP. I probably like Leonora the best as well.

The last four are all fine I guess but a bit bland and nothing-y compared with the first four choices. Except Erin actually, which for a short name, packs a bit more interest in.

Pressuredrip · 10/05/2018 15:29

Erin and Ryan sound ridiculously samey together I'm afraid.

AhJayzuz · 10/05/2018 15:25

Leonora is wonderful

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 10/05/2018 15:24

Love Clara, Thea and Leonora. Clara and Leonie (similar!) were high up on my list... but I went with Sabrina in the end as dh preferred it!

GrumpySausage · 10/05/2018 15:22

Love Erin. I've got my heart set on this DC2 is a girl.

I also like Thea but I understand your worry about pronunciation. I'd worry it'd be pronounced Fear.

steppemum · 10/05/2018 15:18

Just to add another pronunciation in the mix, dh is dutch and so I would be really tempted to say T -ay -ah for Thea, which is the dutch way, and I think is really pretty!

thetriangleisarealinstrument · 10/05/2018 15:00

We are naming our girl Leonora!
Apart from that my fave off your list is Erin.

I do like Ava but it is in the top three names for a few years so there would probably be many Avas in any class she attended which would put me off. Ella may be the same.

SquidgyMcPidgy · 10/05/2018 14:59

Lifechangesforever, unsure whether people might pronounce it Th-ay-ah instead of Thee-ah?

OP posts:
lifechangesforever · 10/05/2018 14:57

We have chosen Thea - what about the pronunciation are you unsure of? I don't know if I'm missing something with it now Confused we pronounce 'Thee-ah'

SquidgyMcPidgy · 10/05/2018 14:56

Ohh thanks everyone, very positive comments. Sounds like Leonora, Adriana and Erin are leading at the moment. I like Ariana too but it's a brand of beer where I come from so I can't use it..

bella2bella · 10/05/2018 14:56

I like Erin, Leonora, Clara, Mia, Ella and Ava in that order. All beautiful names.

JuneBalloon · 10/05/2018 14:53

Erin sounds GREAT with Ryan! Gets my vote...
