Agnes, Beatrice or Ingrid?

Which of these three? I prefer strong names and I love them all but have minor doubts about each - that Agnes and Beatrice will spike (have spiked?) in popularity, that Agnes is too harsh and Beatrice too soft, and that using Ingrid without any Scandinavian connection is a bit weird/pretentious. Thoughts?

Definitely Beatrice (I prefer this to Beatrix personally)

HoratioNightboy · 08/05/2018 09:18

I like strong names too, however Agnes and Ingrid are two that I really don't like! Like a PP, I'd choose Beatrix rather than Beatrice, which is definitely the best of the three.

fearfultrill · 08/05/2018 09:03

I love Ingrid.

bridgetreilly · 08/05/2018 08:54

Oh, also, if you think Agnes is a little too harsh-sounding, what about Annis?

bridgetreilly · 08/05/2018 08:53

I love Agnes. I definitely don't think it's peaked!

gwen25 · 08/05/2018 08:52

I like Agnes best. It doesn't sound harsh to me. Beatrice is very nice too

Not keen on Ingrid

17caterpillars1mouse · 08/05/2018 08:34

Ingrid is my favourite. I'd use the nn Indie

I also like Agnes nn Aggie

Not so keen on Beatrice

Sophronia · 08/05/2018 08:33

Agnes is my favourite

Neolara · 08/05/2018 08:32

I know an Ingrid, nickname of Inky. Love it.

YorkieDorkie · 08/05/2018 08:30

I have a Beatrice! Love the name, she's often Bea to the family but I tend to stick with Beatrice.

blairsey · 08/05/2018 08:25

Dislike the name Agnes, just has a really ugly sound imo. Not keen on Ingrid either as there aren't any nice nicknames. Some aren't fussed about that, but I grew up with a first name that couldn't really be nicknamed easily and hated it. So, I'd want to give my child a name that gives them options, but it's all personal preference I guess. :)

I think Beatrice (nn Bea) is lovely, however I wouldn't necessarily classify it as a 'strong' name. It is definitely my favourite out of those three names though.

TrappedWind · 08/05/2018 08:24

I think Agnes and Ingrid are both harsh.

Beatrice is the best of the three, maybe shortened to Bea?

Starryskiesinthesky · 08/05/2018 08:19

I like Ingrid. I think Agnes is quite harsh sounding. Beatrice is fine but prefer Ingrid in fact I love Ingrid and Astrid!

AfterSchoolWorry · 08/05/2018 08:15

I like Ingrid best.

Agnes sounds harsh to me. Beatrice is nice enough.

Aethelthryth · 08/05/2018 08:14

Beatrice is lovely. If you think it too soft, how about Beatrix?
