We already have 2 boys aged 8 and 5 - Zephyr John and Montgomery Benjamin and are finally expecting a long awaited little girl! The only problem is she's due in 8 weeks and she has no name.
We know kind of what we want - a more unique name then a more traditional middle name. With the boys we had inspiration - John is my dad and Benjamin is my husband's dad but we don't have anything like that for girls.

Ojoj1974 It's a lovely name but a right effort when filling out forms! My Monty started school last year and I had to sit there for ages writing his name on all of his clothing and with our surname being so long I was wondering why I didn't think about it before!

Astrid.

Surely one of your mothers or grandmothers has a suitable name?

Ojoj1974 · 25/06/2018 23:20

Thanks for all the suggestions from everyone, we've had a rare old time trying to decide. DH and I found boys names so easy (even before we got married we chatted about names and made little lists both of which had Zephyr and Montgomery on so they were chosen really early) but girls have always been a problem (we even bought a male cat so we wouldn't have to chose a female name!!)

Anyway, back to the point. After much deliberation, falling in and out of love and exasperation we have chosen a name for our darling little girl!

World, say hello to Calypso Alice!

Both DH and I love the John Denver song Calypso and it was actually playing the moment she was born and we loved it immediately, and Alice is my sister's name. One of my sisters was my maid of honour so it's nice to give the other a similar honour.

Thanks again to everyone who posted and advised us!

Middle - your-mums-or-mil’s name

IHeartKingThistle · 21/05/2018 23:09

It doesn't matter if Zoe and Zephyr don't 'go' - you don't have to match your 3rd child's middle name with your first child's first name, you'll barely ever say them in the same breath! I'd use Zoe, it's a great name.
