Thoughts on Virgil for a boy?

@KatharineHilbery I see great minds think alike! Would Publius have the same issues as Virgil though... "pube-lius". Gah, I hate how name selection forces you to think like a school bully!

DrinkYourGreenTea · 05/05/2018 10:57

Dire. You cannot use that.

ooobisto · 05/05/2018 10:35

😂 This must be a joke...

n0ne · 05/05/2018 08:39

I want to love it but it's unfortunately too close to virgin.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 05/05/2018 08:29

I went to school with a Virginia who was teased mercilessly with virgin and vagina. Don't do it.

HasAnyoneGotAProblemWithThat · 05/05/2018 08:27

No

Maro is a shortened version of Maria in Greek so a girls name. Depends where he goes to school!

EleanorHooverbelt · 05/05/2018 08:25

Sounds too much like Vagisil or some product like it.

It's a shame - a lot of names like that are kind of ruined nowadays, but there it is. Like Candida!

RavenWings · 05/05/2018 08:24

Hell no. Very try hard and a recipe for teasing.

QOD · 05/05/2018 06:28

Do you know what? I like it!
Endless Harry’s and Oscars, Noah’s and George’s and Alfie/Archie/Stanley
I actually like all the above names but they’re soooo popular (common sounds mean but I mean it like common place)

Cantusethatname · 05/05/2018 06:11

Why would you go out of your way to make your teenage son's life harder than it already will be?

HeyDolly · 05/05/2018 06:02

Awful.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 04/05/2018 23:11

No, no, no ...

chezmk1988 · 04/05/2018 23:09

You only have to replace the last letter and he's bullied for life.

KatharineHilbery · 04/05/2018 23:02

Publius and Maro would work well too.

Featherbag · 04/05/2018 22:51

No

LynetteScavo · 04/05/2018 22:36

Well , it may be shortened to Virg.

But it's not that bad. If you're looking to be a bit "out there" I'd guess so are baby other parents and half the class will be Virgil/Candida/Gilbert/Prudence

Stinkbomb · 04/05/2018 22:12

There was one at school, he's very successful now.

KatharineHilbery · 04/05/2018 22:07

Greatest poet in Western literature. Go for it.

feathermucker · 04/05/2018 22:06

Liverpool fan by any chance?

HappyLollipop · 04/05/2018 22:06

Terrible don't do it, he'll be teased with a name like that it's ok for a middle name but no way for a first name.

Agustarella · 04/05/2018 22:03

I've heard of a few young Virgils in France but I don't know if it would work well in the UK.

What about Maro?

MrsEricBana · 04/05/2018 21:57

Ok if he's going to study classics at Oxbridge, otherwise Thunderbirds/virgin associations will be rife.

Terramirabilis · 04/05/2018 21:54

Makes me think of Virgil from Thunderbirds. Recipe for disaster at school bc teasing.

Justinecase1985 · 04/05/2018 21:53

Horrendous.

Shopkinsdoll · 04/05/2018 21:53

Your joking aren’t you?
