A sibling for Caoimhe

So I have a Caoimhe (keeva, we are in Ulster so correct pronunciation for here), looking girls names, what should I be shortlisting!

Open to all ideas.

So far on my list is Fiadh but dh is not fussed

We had previously short listed Laoise but not sure if I love it anymore.

@confuddled Yep I think it'll take a few days to let those names you like sink in anyway, and get used to them :)

Hhaha, re Siomha - no I don't think you could use it ;)

Aodhemar : Eh (Like a Canadian says Eh !) De Mar (Irish for sea)
I would put a slight emphasis on the 'Eh" sound
Hope that makes sense! A distant cousin of my Mam's used it on her daughter, never heard it before or since, really love it
Can we shortened to Adie if wanted too, so no worries about it 'travelling well' !

I can't use Siomhe with Caoimhe right hahah I do like the name aghh

So far a shortened list of about 4 - none I LOVE but I'm going to keep reading them everyday and hopefully they will start to grow on me. I think it's difficult as I have Caoimhe to look at and love so I also love her with the name. So I am not going to love another name as much as Caoimhe until Baby is here and named am I?

Caoimhe didn't get her name until she was 2 days old after all

Regarding the discussion above, my name is Cushla! So it is a real name! (In as much as it is mine Smile)

My dad is Irish. My parents liked Macuislé (sorry if fada wrong way round) but liked Cuislé better then because we live in England, they used a phonetic spelling.

So, Cushla. I hated it at school when you had to find out the meaning - Sarah was ‘princess’, Clare was ‘light’ - and I was ‘pulse of my heart’... Love it now though. Have never met another one.

Siofra
Siomha
Beibhinn (I say Beh-vin)
Doireann
Neasa
Aodhemar

Should we have a girl, the name is coming from this list :)
I also love Fiadh!! But know someone using it

Hope you find something you love as much as Caoimhe!

And with Star Wars/ Skelligs/ Portmagee / Valentia Island linkage it might become popular.

I don't think it does. The Sacred Heart is usually commemorated by the name Margaret Mary in Ireland, a combo that you don't hear very much any more. (St Margaret Mary of the Sacred Heart).

'Mo chroí' ('machree) is 'my heart'

I have actually come across a MNer whose DD has Croí as a middle name. I think it's beautiful as a name. Like Corazón in Spanish.

@ mathanxiety Aha, I knew about Colleen but not the others! Is mo chroí the same as Machree, as in 'Mother Machree'? Not that anyone's suggested it as a name of course.

Agustarella - no, they are not real names.

They are like Colleen, derived from 'cailín' which means 'girl'. What better name to call a daughter Hmm.

Eileen Alannah would be 'Eileen, my darling' ("a Eibhlín, a leanbh" in speech).
