What do you think of Denby?

Digby?...

ErrantBakedBean · 02/05/2018 12:25

Oh I like it! People may mishear it as Tenby but that's no big issue.

MillicentF · 02/05/2018 11:33

Or you could just give him a name suitable for a human being?

Pemba · 02/05/2018 11:31

No. Plates, places, not a person's first name.

TrickyKid · 02/05/2018 10:40

Pottery

IAmMatty · 02/05/2018 10:40

Sounds like a Great Dane

blairsey · 02/05/2018 10:39

Not keen.. what about Darcy?

RoundaboutSnail · 01/05/2018 23:30

I do think of plates but in a good way. It's a place name for the village where the pottery is made. I wouldn't have thought of it as a baby name, but I like it better than a lot of location names.

Topseyt · 01/05/2018 23:18

Dinner plates. We inherited some from my MIL.

Not really a name, IMHO.

Buntysoven · 01/05/2018 23:01

Kids won't know who Dirty Den is. The character's been dead for years! Not keen on Denby though tbh. Actually prefer Dennis but it's all subjective

Sophronia · 01/05/2018 21:24

Plates

littlepooch · 01/05/2018 20:04

Yep, plates. Sorry.

PavoReal · 01/05/2018 20:01

Worked with an Aussie girl called Denby years ago. She’d probably be about 40 by now. She was lovely!
I realise this is of no help whatsoever.

LastOneDancing · 01/05/2018 20:01

I like the sound of it, it makes me think of a friendly floppy dog.

But yeah. Plates.

pilates · 01/05/2018 19:59

Awful

lurkymclurkerson · 01/05/2018 19:55

I live in Derbyshire so my first thought is the village... and then the plates.

The factory shop does a rubbish scone. That’s not relevant, but I suppose a heads up for anyone in the area...

DailyFailAreTwats · 01/05/2018 19:52

Small village

Pottery (that I love)
Surname of one of my personal heroes, Joolz Denby

Do you want your child to have the nickname Dirty Den? It will happen

What about Digby?
Sounds like Denby, but has the added benefit of not being pottery.

FawnDrench · 01/05/2018 18:32

A Welsh town...

Emilyrose746 · 01/05/2018 17:04

It just reminds me of Denby dale pies!

SwedishEdith · 01/05/2018 17:03

I hear it as Denbigh. It'll be shortened to Den, which may or may not be ok.

AmazingPostVoices · 01/05/2018 17:02

I think it would be a hard name to live with honestly.

chezmk1988 · 01/05/2018 17:00

Not very nice imo
