I must say I had never heard of it before (in contrast to Anaïs), but there are a number of instances of "Anaise" births, marriages and deaths on www.freebmd.org.uk going back to 1845. Many of them, but not all, have French-sounding surnames.

I'd pronounce it like the end of mayonaise.

I have a friend with a made up name but it is easy to pronounce and spell.

Not sure how you would get Ann-Ace. . Annace? But I think anything will look like Anais spelled wrong.

Just to stick up for the op a bit as she seems to be getting a lot of flack..

I have a 'made up' name and I love it!

Yes, people who don't know me pronounce it wrong and people don't spell it right .. but I can safely say that my name has never caused any problems! I love having a unique name!

Op, you call your baby whatever you want to call her and don't worry about if it's the 'right' or 'wrong' way of spelling/saying a name. The right way is whatever way you choose for your baby xx

I know a Ciara, pronounced Sierra. Everyone is like "no love, its not. Those letters don't make those sounds, and its a different name entirely".

Anaise looks like you got the spelling and the pronunciation of Anaïs wrong, which is a lovely name and should be pronounced as a PP has said, to rhyme with fleece: Ann-Eye-Eece. Established spellings exist for a reason; so that people know how to pronounce a name. Yoonique spellings make you look like you can’t spell and sets your child up for a lifetime of correcting people.

If you want her to be called Annace (each to their own) - why not spell it how it sounds rather than misspelling another name?

With Anaise will never be clear whether you meant Anaïse - which would be pronounced An eye eese or whether you meant Anayse.

There would also be confusion between aze and ace.

being on "babynamespedia" does not make it a name. Lots of other misspellings, made up shite and mistakes are on there as well!

I haven't actually seen any correct suggestions for pronunciation of Anaïs yet on this thread grin. It's An-eye-eece (the last bit rhymes with 'fleece').
Aren't there lots of suggestions on here where the last syllable rhymes with fleece?

I think putting an e on will not make clear that you want that pronunciation. It'll just look like the parents didn't know how to spell or wanted a yooneek spelling due to being a bit rough around the edges.

I would pronounce it Ann-eye-eece and think you'd spelt it wrongly.

It's so close to the other name that a lot of people will do that, I think.
