I would pronounce it An-ays.

I wouldn’t think it was the same as Anaïs.

If you want to pronounce it like Anaïs (Ann-eye-eese) then I would spell it correctly. Sorry.

Id assume youd spelled Anais wrong. It looks really silly and nowhere near as pretty spelled Anaise, and yet id pronounce them the same

Maybe you should just come up with a book of 'real names' for all of us who seemingly have no idea .. didn't realise what deemed as 'real' names was dictated by someone on mumsnet

Half the names in my actual baby name book don't sound like they could be a real name but they are 😂

That is an alternative spelling, this one OP just decided looked better, and then also tried to change the pronounciation.

@DougFargo no because it's my name not theirs. The beginning of my name is kirst and people say Christ so that's people just not reading properly

Yep it's like naming a baby "Bath" and saying it is pronounced "Dave!"
My name is actually pronounced differently in different countries. But that's not the same as choosing to pronounce a word in a way that makes no sense.

If your parents changed it to a wacky spelling or to a way that doesn't make sense, you're the one pronouncing it/spelling it wrong, not them.

The right way is whatever way you choose for your baby

but thats just bollocks, isn't it? You can't choose how the english language works, you can't say "its spelled p, h, 7, hyphen, umlaut, r, z, x, and you say it Bob".
it doesn't work that way. there are right ways and wrong ways.
