MillicentF · 29/04/2018 15:59

How many boys called Jade do you know?

youarenotkiddingme · 29/04/2018 15:53

Not true milli I think their are more gender neutral names that are often used more for boys but names like Jade etc are predominantly female and are gender neutral.

kitcatdog · 29/04/2018 15:15

Stevie

felicitythemangyfox · 29/04/2018 15:14

Why is e.g. Sam a boys name? I know more female Sam's than males. Ditto Frankie.

MillicentF · 29/04/2018 15:09

Have you noticed that all “gender neutral” names are actually boy’s names that girls use? There aren’t any the other way round.

felicitythemangyfox · 29/04/2018 14:43

MillicentF

But they're mostly not really "boys" names - they're gender neutral names/nicknames. I don't know about anyone else but I like gender neutral names on boys too - Ali, Sam, Alex, Jude, Rowan, Robin etc

I don't see what the issue is.

And you will presumably be calling any future son Rose or Elizabeth?

youarenotkiddingme · 29/04/2018 08:56

I know lots that are naturally shortened too.

Charlotte = Charlie
Harriet =Harry
Alexandra = Alex
Jacquline = Jaq
Nichola = Nic

They're just the ones I know off the top of my head.

Oysterbabe · 29/04/2018 08:54

The Francesca I know goes by Frankie, which I think is pretty cute.

RosieCotton · 28/04/2018 23:47

I know an adorable little girl named Billie. She is the sweetest girl ever.

StringyPotatoes · 28/04/2018 22:22

One of the characters on Channel 4's "Humans" was a Mathilda shortened to Matt/Matty which I quite liked.

I also knew a little girl who told me her little sister was to be called "Harrison". At first I was surprised but it really grew on me. Turns out, she'd misheard "Harriet" but nonetheless I now quite like Harrison for a girl...
