DH wants to name DD1 Susanna as it has important family links for him but I'm just not sure if I like it or not.

What does the mumsnet jury think?

I like it. Makes me think of the leadsinger of The Bangles. Yes, I'm already a bit older, haha. But be stern and don't let people shorten it to Suzie or Suzanne/Susan. ;-)

My teenage niece is Susannah so naturally I love it. She has always refused to be called Sue! We call her Susie.

Thats my name. Spelt exactly how you are wanting to spell it. I hated it growing up (a lot of people hate their name though). I have to spell it all the time because there's so many variations. I hated being called Suzie. I just always wanted a nice short name.

Susannah is the standard spelling. It's lovely. Susie is too. Not so keen on Sue. Suzanna seems a bit 1960/70s, although it was Suzanne then.

It was on my list for dd. I adore Susie but I dread the thought of her being Sue when she was older so didn't use it.

I really like it. One of DD (aged 4) friends is called this. She sometimes get Susie but is mainly known by her full name.

A friend of mine has called her daughter Susannah. It's pretty unusual, but a name every has heard of.

I disagree with the pp who says she will be known as 'Sue'. I guess she could be if she wants, but I know about 5 or 6 Susannahs (in their 30s/40s/50s) and none are called Sue.
