We are thinking of the name Molly for our little girl due next month. I like the Irish connotations as we both have strong Irish links & I think it's a name that will travel well. So Mumsnet how would you imagine a little Molly to be like?

Possibly one of my favourite girls names ever and it would very likely have been dd's name had my friend not used it first.

I like it but do think mdma however molly the name has been around longer :)

I love it. One of my best friends is a Molly (she’s 23) and she is strong, beautiful and inspiring. I don’t see it as wet at all.

Another friends 80-something year old Gran is Molly, she’s Irish and is also, wonderful.

It’s a yes from me!

And yes it is another name for MDMA, but that wouldn’t put me off. Look at all the Charlie’s!

its a nice name for a little girl but not for an adult woman tbh.

Personally i find it a bit 'wet' as it reminds me of the word 'mollycoddle'.

Also, i think the youth of today calls MDMA 'Molly'.

Couldnt it be short for Margaret like Milly Molly Mandy?
