Adriana - what do you think?

What do you think of the name Adriana? Any associations? Would it be easy to pronounce? What kind of a child do you imagine when you hear the name? Just any thoughts really, please :)

Nice but not keen on Adrian for a boy.
Adrienne (Ad-ree-en) is nice but Adrien isn't.

Thank you everyone! I’m glad the majority of opinions are positive, it gives me a bit more confidence in using the name.

I love Ariana too but where I’m from it’s a brand of beer so can’t use it..

It’s a bit LA prom queen for me, if I met one in RL I would think it was a bit try-hard. But as a name in itself there is nothing wrong with it, in fact it’s very pretty.

The only association that popped up was Adriana Lima, the VS model. Otherwise, I've never known of anyone else with the name! It is very pretty and agree with pp that it sounds very sophisticated. Love it.

I agree that there will likely be pronunciation differences (ad-riana versus ay-driana), but I don't think it's a big issue. My official first name is Tiana, which people struggled knowing whether to pronounce as Tee-arna / Tee-anna. I didn't mind really, so I guess its just whether that would bother you. :)

Reminds me of the drug addict/psycho/pop star on 90210 but not many people will associate that so I think it's pretty otherwise

How about Andrina? It's the name of one of Ariel's sisters in the little mermaid.
Or Alexandrinda - Queen Victoria's birth name?

It's a real name and it's pretty. I had a few classmates growing up with this name(not in the uk). You will have to tell most people how to pronounce it though.

I know two as well. One European one American (who actually had a different name but changed it to Adraina when she became 18). It’s a lovely name.

Came on to say sopranos! It wasn't Adriana on MTV's The Hills - it was Audrina.

My childhood best friend was Adrianna, nn Anna. It suited her. She had a simple, middle-namey middle name (think Jane, Rose, Lynn) for balance.

She was very attractive but alternative, she would not have suited a flowery name. It's a long name but not fussy and beautiful without being prissy imo.

Or Ariana.

It seems like a mix of the two of these to me.
