Do your initials spell anything? Do you care/have others commented?

More importantly, would you be put off using a name if the initials spelled a negative word?

The word in question is "LESS" - so nothing vulgar, just not something you'd necessarily want your name to spell.

Mine spell EGG. No one other than me has never noticed or commented. If you like a name please don't avoid it due to initials!

A boy at school had the initials JEM.
He insisted on being called Jem rather than his given name.

My initials spell something and it’s tedious how people comment. I found it embarrassing as a child. I wouldn’t now do it to my kids.

Mine don’t currently but will on marriage, I know it’s not the same as growing up with it but I’m absolutely fine with it and haven’t decided against changing my name as a result. My first and middle initials are consonant-vowel-vowel so there was always a risk of it happening

I had a friend at school who was BJA. Nobody mentioned it until she did at 13/14; then it became a bit of a running joke for a while (almost entirely spurred on by her); and then we all shut up about it after a few years.

Mine don't spell anything. My little sisters did; but as far as I know, it's never been mentioned.

My initials are BS. Slightly unfortunate but I can’t say it’s affected me too much, I wasn’t made fun of at school or anything like that, and only a handful of people have ever commented on it.

LESS is fine, it’s not like it’s a rude word and I doubt anyone will notice.

Not quite initials, also, extremely outing...my name starts with an ‘X’ and have married a Mr.Hale. I could have ended up with many other comical name variations, glad it was not a Mr.Mass!

I always get comments, once during writing a statement at the police station...the police officer realised midway and kept laughing.
DH and I have joked about I.N /E.X as possible initial combinations for future DC.
I think in educational/work settings where initials are used as identifiers, especially using computers,it may lead to being made fun of, as PP have suggested. Although with the ‘trend’ for personalised gifts...it may look good as a monogram, if the initials spell out something personal. To use the above example, CAT, if you are fond of cats is a great way to incorporate your fondness.

Mine before marriage was EFT. I just assumed that everyone’s initials came up on the screen when they paid for something with their card. My DH had to point out to me that it stands for Electronic File Transfer....

Mine spell a colour. I was either called that or other random colours and whilst it wasn't terrible it was really tedious. Teachers thought it was fun to join in.

Im initials used to spell LACK until I got married. I truely hated it. I always used to be asked what i was lacking. Then LACK became a nickname during high school no matter how i tried to shake it.

I personally wouldmt give a name that the intails spell any word i may be biased but i just wouldnt do it.

I would personally avoid initials that spell anything. When your DC gets to school, initials are often used as computer logins.

My initials spell out JOB and an old teacher used to ask me to do things then say "It's a good JOB you were there..." Got a bit tedious after a while
