Ramona- I hate the name nell. Reminds me of chavvy Welsh types and don't think it's a nice name for a baby at all

Nell is cool and quirky and friendly-sounding and has a whiff of history about it.

Ramona brings to mind a wild gypsy-girl, romance, strength and Throwing Muses.

Fab names!

It would usually be sort for something wouldn't it?

Ramona sounds very much like 'remoaner' i.e. remain voter moaning at the referendum result. That reference may not last but 'moaner' does. I recall a book from childhood called 'Ramona the Pest' too. Even Romana is nicer, as the 'ah' sound is nicer than the 'oan' one.

Romilly is much nicer.

So, Ramona. A Ramona would be cool by default.

I love the name Nell! I know just one and hers is never lengthened to Nellie and it is very unlikely you’ll ever get two Nells in a class (it was 345th in last ons so probably won’t be top 50 even if it soared in populrity). I too would have it short for something else such as Helen or Ellen (another name I love!).

Ramona is ok but it’s too like Remoaner-something those of us disappointed with the Brexit vote get called...

I really don't like Nell. I think it's too short and it doesn't sound pretty/pleasant to me. I like Eleanor, Fenella and Helena?

Gorgeous names! Nell (I would prefer short for Penelope) is probably more popular than Ramona I think, but you'd be fine with either.

You can't go wrong, whichever you pick.

My dd has Ramona as a middle name. We didn't go with it as a first name as my dh said he would shorten it and didn't like Rammy or Moaner 😒 As it is, he lengthens dd's name. Men!
