Baby due any day now, and we have settled on the first name Violet (if it's a girl), but haven't decided on a middle name.

Violet Arabella
Violet Catherine / Violet Katharine
Violet Emmeline
Violet Josephine
Violet Madeleine
Violet Matilda

And I really love Wednesday, but not sure that Violet Wednesday is great. Sad

@Vexatious aw I get that (had great aunties just like that, sadly no longer here.) I really toyed with the middle name Queenie for a while, not after an aunt, but because DD would go nuts whenever I listened to Queen when I was pregnant with her!

Patal · 15/04/2018 14:14

Violet Matilda

Vexatious · 15/04/2018 02:19

I just think there's something charming about a really unfashionable middle name because you just assume it's in honour of some lovely old relative who used to give one of the parents a five pound note and an ice-cream every time they saw them.

DramaAlpaca · 15/04/2018 02:18

Another vote for Violet Emmeline, but all the middle names on the list are nice. I also really like Violet Josephine.

Vexatious · 15/04/2018 02:07

Does it really matter? Her middle name will be said aloud approximately once every two years. Just pick your favourite or alternatively makes an older auntie's day and use her (untrendy) name instead.

LoveinTokyo - yes I love that suffragette link too. Gorgeous name with great connotations.

stellinaa · 14/04/2018 13:56

Violet Emmeline or Violet Arabella, love them both!

bridgetreilly · 14/04/2018 13:12

I really like Violet Emmeline and totally agree about avoiding Violet Elizabeth Bott.

LoveInTokyo · 14/04/2018 13:07

Ha, yeah you don’t want to go for Violet Elizabeth.

“I’ll thcweam and thcweam ‘til I’m thick!”

I think the Violet -ine sound has a nice ring to it. But Violet Emmeline sounds particularly good and it’s got that fabulous link to the suffragettes, which is a really cool thing to give your daughter.

ChocolateCrunch · 14/04/2018 11:12

Violet Emmeline

MinaPaws · 14/04/2018 10:55

I like Violet Elizabeth, but there are oodles of them in my family and I don’t want to use a family name. Smile

Violet Emmeline. I love Emmeline. It came up in a baby name thread yesterday. Unusual but great.

essietopcoat · 14/04/2018 10:53

Violet Elizabeth has a great ring to it

gwen25 · 14/04/2018 10:50
