What do you think? Not as keen on Cecily.

I love it

Twelve8Ts · 14/04/2018 18:06

Love it! Cicely Hamilton and Cicely Hale were two suffragists, plus it’s year of the woman, very fitting.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 14/04/2018 13:18

i like it, but also Cecelia...

bridgetreilly · 14/04/2018 13:15

I love it. It was my grandmother's middle name and I've always thought how pretty it is. Go for it!

Shednik · 14/04/2018 09:19

Cicely! Autocorrect. Which I guess means you'd have problems with misspellings.

Shednik · 14/04/2018 09:18

I love it. And Dame Cecily Saunders is my heroine.

TatianaLarina · 14/04/2018 08:57

Oh come on who hasn’t heard of the name Cicely! It’s not uncommon.

RedDwarves · 13/04/2018 21:55

I would assume it was spelt Sicily upon hearing it.

I don't like it either way.

BringMeCoffeePlease · 13/04/2018 21:53

I prefer Cecily

TatianaLarina · 13/04/2018 21:29

Prefer it to Cecily.

I had a friend called Cicely as a kid.

Enidblyton1 · 13/04/2018 19:31

Love both Cicely and Cecily.
Under used and with lovely nicknames - Cici/Ceci

MadMaryBoddington · 13/04/2018 19:26

It’s lovely.

DramaAlpaca · 13/04/2018 19:19

I prefer Cecily but I like it.

MarmiteTermite · 13/04/2018 18:55

It’s growing on me! We are going to Sicily this summer (same sound?).

daisypond · 13/04/2018 17:35

I like how it looks, and it's an old name, but it's too close to Cecily in how it sounds. People will spell it wrongly constantly.

LadySerenaCarlow · 13/04/2018 16:53

love it - sweet Cicily

LoveInTokyo · 13/04/2018 16:52

Have you thought about Cecilia?

Lobsterquadrille2 · 13/04/2018 16:39

I thought the character in The Importance of Being Earnest was Cecily Cardew ...? Really like Cicely too anyway.

Winterfield · 13/04/2018 16:32

Pronounced SISS-uh-lee

Thanks for all the thoughts so far

ErrantBakedBean · 13/04/2018 13:28

Saying it out loud, I think people would assume you are saying Sicily so you and child would have to be ok with spelling it out all the time. Also, while it is pretty, I'm afraid it makes me think silly/sissy - sorry!

PinkCalluna · 13/04/2018 12:33

I love it, makes me think of the “Importance of Being Ernest”

stellinaa · 13/04/2018 12:31

Love the sound but looks wrong written down to me. Wouldn't go for Cecily, as it is often pronounced differently (ses-il-ee not sis-il-ee). How about Cecelia (nn Cicely) or just Sicily?

MarmiteTermite · 13/04/2018 12:22

How is it pronounced?

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 13/04/2018 12:21

Lovely. I prefer it to Cecily. It's a herb/botanic name as well I think. Really pretty and yes, unusual without being out there.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 13/04/2018 12:16

I think I prefer Cecily.
