Henrietta, Matilda, Charlotte, or Other?

Second child. First DD Emily. I had a dalliance with Anastasia for her during pregnancy, but ended up going for my long term favourite name. Don't really have another established favourite if it's another girl. Is Henrietta the equivalent of Anastasia (am I mad)? They all have quite masculine shortenings/derivatives, but with options for more feminine ones, which I like. Only shorten Emily to Em occasionally at the moment, which I wouldn't have envisioned.

Henrietta is awful. I'd go as far as to say it's the most hideous girls name there is.
Charlotte is okay.
Love Matilda but only in its entirety. It's one of those names I wouldn't want shortnend
Anastasia See Matilda.
Other ideas to go with Emily.

I like Charlotte, Anastasia is nice too.

Beeziekn33ze · 12/04/2018 23:00

Matilda or Harriet

redmini4 · 12/04/2018 22:58

I do think Charlotte goes better with Emily than the others. The Bronte theme is brilliant even if it is unintentional!

Whodoeswhatwhennow · 12/04/2018 22:21

My DD is a Henrietta, Hetty for short and it really suits her. Still my favourite pick for her. Smile

Smoliver · 12/04/2018 22:16

I love Henrietta. I knew one from my school days and always thought it was a gorgeous name on her. People would call her Hetty or Hen (sounds silly but it did suit her!) Another nickname I like with Henrietta is Etta. I think Emily with either Hetty or Etta would sound cute together.

daisypond · 12/04/2018 19:11

I think Charlotte and Emily go best together - but that means you've got a Bronte theme going on. I don't actually like Charlotte, though, as a name.

ChocolateCrunch · 12/04/2018 17:56

Charlotte would be my favourite

gwen25 · 12/04/2018 17:49

I like Charlotte best. Matilda is ok but so popular at the moment.

I don't really like Henrietta- Harriet is way better!

pipilangstrumpf · 12/04/2018 17:35

Harriett is ugly and harsh imo. Henrietta sounds beautiful and feminine!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 12/04/2018 17:32

Love Harriet (Hattie).
Henrietta (Hetty).

MrsMarigold · 12/04/2018 17:10

Harriet is way better than Henrietta.

17caterpillars1mouse · 12/04/2018 17:06

I love Henrietta it was my back up choice for my DD of she down suit thr name we had picked. She would of been Hettie or Hattie most of the time but I also like Ettie.

Matilda's are everywhere to the point i am getting bored of it

Charlotte is ok. I really like Lottie but it's become popular recently

Lifeisshortbuytheshoes · 12/04/2018 17:02

Not keen on Henrietta - rarely gets used as a whole name as it’s so long so is usually Hen or Hettie which are both awful imo

Love Charlotte but very popular. Charlie and Lottie both nice nn.

Like Matilda, Tilly and Matty both cute nn

Anastasia is v pretty but usually gets shortened to Ana, Stacie or Nastya none of which I’m keen on.

LexieLulu · 12/04/2018 16:45

I love Henrietta (as I love the fratellis song), and Matilda.

Matilda appears to be more popular now, judging by mumsnet posts - I don't know one

userabcname · 12/04/2018 16:36

I like Matilda or Charlotte. I also really like Anastasia but I'm put off by the different pronunciations I've heard so depends whether that would bother you. Other suggestions: Penelope, Vivienne, Georgina, Annabelle

ghislaine · 12/04/2018 16:32

I like "Other". Underused, in my opinion.

Wannabecitygirl · 12/04/2018 16:29

Love Henrietta, or Harriet ?

Lifeaback · 12/04/2018 16:28

I agree with a PP that Henrietta would look a bit out there compared to Emily. I think charlotte is a lovely classic name and would work really well.

AnyaMoondial · 12/04/2018 16:24

Matilda! Love it. Surprised at pp saying it seems pretentious, it just seems really cool and awesome to me.

deptfordgirl · 12/04/2018 16:21

I love Matilda

DanceDisaster · 12/04/2018 14:38

Charlotte and Emily Bronte!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 12/04/2018 14:38

I would put Charlotte with Emily.

Alice
Anna
Lucy
Katy
Rebecca
Megan
Holly

The above all go well too with Emily.

I do like Henrietta but it's a bit frilly.

NowToWork · 12/04/2018 14:37

Harriet
