Casper or Kit

Hello all.

We're expecting our third son this September and are stuck on his name.

Our sons are Teddy and Sonny, we've received nothing but compliments about their names and they suit them to a tee.
I've always loved (adored!) Casper, but husband says it reminds him of the ghost too much. I've told him the film was in 1995 and growing up kids nowadays won't know anything about the ghost, but it's something I don't think he can shake.
Another suggestion is Kit, however it would solely be Kit (not Christopher, Kitson etc), but i'm not sure how it goes with our boys names.
I can imagine Teddy, Sonny and Casper, but am struggling with Teddy, Sonny and Kit.

If you like the names Casper or Kit, please could you comment with your vote below. If you don' like either, please don't comment.

Thanks all :)

I love kit but I agree with pp about being careful of what rhymes with it. My name rhymes with lots of things (none as bad as shit) and I was bullied mercilessly.

Casper is safer, but I like it less (and also just think ghost)

Casper was in my list of names. Love it

I love that name but unfortunately Toy Story is still here, there and everywhere. Confused

I like kit as a nn, it's a bit out there as a full name though and many will assume his 'real' name is Christopher but it would work well considering your other children's names. Don't like Casper and like your DH I can't shake the friendly ghost connection!

FizzyGreenWater · 13/04/2018 11:28

Woody?

sundowners · 13/04/2018 11:28

Caspar spelt like this.

chezmk1988 · 13/04/2018 11:11

I like kit but not as a stand alone name. It goes well with your other kids names though. I wouldn't get past the ghost thing either

MummaUK · 13/04/2018 10:15

Thanks all. Think it's going to be a while yet until we reach a verdict Confused. My husband and I also like Barney. It was so much easier with our others sons names, we both knew straight away what 'the one' was.

Oo, as in Kit Harrington?! Love the name - it's short for Christopher isn't it? 🤔 - somehow manages to be classic, noble yet rebellious all in one... shame we're Definitely not having any more kids, one would totally be called Kit

Another vote for Kit here, clearly! Grin

MadMaryBoddington · 12/04/2018 20:30

Kit.

TatianaLarina · 12/04/2018 17:45

Caspar with an a, which is the original version.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 12/04/2018 17:41

Definitely Casper !

DiegoMadonna · 12/04/2018 12:03

Casper

BabloHoney · 12/04/2018 11:50

I think Kit is a brilliant name (for a boy or a girl!) good luck deciding x

QueenOfMyWorld · 12/04/2018 11:50

Kit

pipilangstrumpf · 12/04/2018 11:41

Kit as in football kit?!

Definitely Caspar!

Sophronia · 12/04/2018 10:18

Kit

ShowOfHands · 12/04/2018 10:02

I love Caspar (that spelling). My children are 6 and 10 and know who Casper the Friendly Ghost is (they watched the 2006 film this easter). Doesn't matter a jot though. My ds is named after a ninja turtle. It soon becomes the child's name first iyswim.

If you like Caspar, what about Cosmo? I like that too and it's similar in feel.

Kit is lovely too though.

FizzyGreenWater · 12/04/2018 09:55

Kit is fab.

Casper is ok, but I don't think it goes as well with your other names. It's just not the same kind of name.

Kit can also be Kester, but Kester doesn't fit with your other names either.

I'd go for Kit, but if you're unsure get some more ideas. I wouldn't have Casper.

OverTheMountain42 · 12/04/2018 09:44

What about the Dutch spelling of Casper, as Kasper. When I see it with the K it never makes me think of the ghost.

DanceDisaster · 12/04/2018 09:37

Kit

RhinoBlue · 12/04/2018 09:35

Or Caspian?

RhinoBlue · 12/04/2018 09:34

I love Casper, have you thought about Jasper as an alternative?

Kirta · 12/04/2018 09:32

I love Sonny, Teddy and Kit! I'm not sure about Casper flowing with Sonny and Teddy!
