Which name do you like more? Is Katerina too unusual?

BasicBetty · 18/04/2018 12:38

Katerina

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 18/04/2018 09:16

Katerina definitely. Kaitlyn and all it’s variations are just fucking everywhere. I have never understood its popularity. It’s awful.

TheDowagerCuntess · 18/04/2018 09:12

DD shares her name with a (rather daft) character from A Midsummer Night's Dream.

I wouldn't have decided on her name based on whether or not I liked the [random Shakespearean] character.....?!

Aries456 · 18/04/2018 08:24

I like Katerina but maybe read or watch Taming of the Shrew first as main character is Katerina! Perhaps decide if you like her as people may ask if she is named after her (or perhaps it is just us English teachers that make such associations?!)

longestlurkerever · 12/04/2018 07:27

Loving the Katerina love. It's my dd2's middle name. I got some Hmm looks from friends and family asking where it is from. It's international, that was part of its appeal, as her first name would be difficult to pronounce in a lot of Europe Actually i spelled it Katarina.

TheDowagerCuntess · 12/04/2018 07:23

I’m well aware of that, but have no idea how to type the accented i.....

If you're on a phone, just hold the 'i' key down, and you'll get the full range

Susurin · 12/04/2018 07:18

Thank you! It was an eye opener for me!

Thank you for all responses - they all were very helpful Flowers.
Didn't realise that Kaitlyn is as bad as Khloe! Shock.
Caitlin doesn't look right to me ( i appreciate it is a correct spelling), also it seems that many people like Katerina (was worried they could have found it awkward), so it might be our choice. My husband is not keen on it though, but definitely no Kaitlyn anymore Smile.

I like Caitlin - this spelling only but know a few - various spellings I've never met a Katarina but think it is beautiful not too unusual at all as it is an easily recognisable name just not one you hear very often

Dancinggoat · 11/04/2018 22:44

Kathleen is also sweet

BackforGood · 11/04/2018 22:37

Caitlin is nice.
Don't like Kaitlyn.

Slievenamon · 11/04/2018 22:30

BonnieF · 11/04/2018 22:19

Katerina is a Greek name too. Lovely choice.

Slievenamon · 11/04/2018 22:07

Kaitlyn if you're not Russian lol

That makes no sense

Slievenamon · 11/04/2018 22:06

The correct spelling is Caitlin

Technically its Caitlín Wink

chezmk1988 · 11/04/2018 22:02

Kaitlyn if you're not Russian lol

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 11/04/2018 22:00

I prefer the spelling Caitlin myself.

Katerina - is much nicer than Katrina!

Hersetta427 · 11/04/2018 21:51

I have a Caitlin but to be honest I really dislike your proposed spelling.

gruffalopuffalo · 11/04/2018 21:37

Caitlin is lovely but not when misspelled. Katerina is nice especially if you are mainland European. I prefer Catriona though, personally.

neversleepagain · 11/04/2018 21:34

My DD's middle name is Katerina after her grandmother. I like it.

BonnieF · 11/04/2018 21:31

Mis-spelt celtic names are chavvy. The correct spelling is Caitlin.

Slievenamon · 11/04/2018 21:29

Katerina is fabulous, with Katya, Kaisa, Kajsa or Katinka as short forms depending on which countries version you like.
Kaitlyn, just no. So Wrong.
