I love this name, and it suits DH unwieldy surname. But is it a bit weird to call your kid a generic word for "man"?

Yes, I think Guy rather than Ghee as faux-French would sound pretty grim in my broad accent!

Great feedback thanks, definitely top of the list now.

Just seen ferals post, if you are going to pronounce it ghee, then I really dislike it. If guy as you would say "hey you guys" then yes.

mrselizabethdarcy · 11/04/2018 22:16

My DN is Guy and I love it. He's lovely kid too.

SequinsOnEverything · 11/04/2018 22:14

I like it. I know a few guys and they are all nice too.

chezmk1988 · 11/04/2018 22:06

Don't like it but each to their own.

DanceDisaster · 11/04/2018 21:45

I also love it. We considered it for ds.

Yika · 11/04/2018 21:14

I love it. It's very solid. And slightly posh. A great name.

Uhohmummy · 11/04/2018 21:08

I love it! Please go for it!

MikeUniformMike · 11/04/2018 19:39

Love it. It's a man's name - a lot of names seem like little boys' names.

feral · 11/04/2018 19:37

I was so in love with a Guy who was in 6th time when I was fourth year...

And I've worked with a Guy. Nice bloke.

Would you pronounce it Gye or Ghee though?

IwantedtobeEmmaPeel · 11/04/2018 19:10

I love it and it also sounds lovely in french (bit of a francophile). The name Guy has been around for centuries compared to the american slang word and I never think of the americanism when hearing the name Guy. You don't get many Guys and it cannot be shortened/mucked about with. Go for it Op.

FairfaxAikman · 11/04/2018 19:07

I don't dislike it but I do think "of Gisbourne" from Maid Marian and her merry men

Guy?
TheRattleBag · 11/04/2018 18:56

Apparently I was going to be Guy if I'd been born a boy....... so I like it :-)

AnnaT45 · 11/04/2018 18:39

Absolutely love it. It's our fav boys name but no boy yet.

MadMaryBoddington · 11/04/2018 18:29

I love it. We went with Gus in the end though.

WazFlimFlam · 11/04/2018 17:52

I love it. DH won't have it.

Winterfield · 11/04/2018 16:38

I know one. It’s a perfectly fine name to use but I must admit I’ve never seen the appeal.

Dogsrbarking · 11/04/2018 15:40

Guy is our top name for a boy so obviously love it.

FizzyGreenWater · 11/04/2018 15:19

I really like it, but for some reason it does make me snigger.

GUY

Grin

I've no idea why.

MissT2095 · 11/04/2018 14:58

Love it!!

stopbeingadramallama · 11/04/2018 14:56

I knew a boy called Guy when I was at school. I thought it was weird back then but I suppose I don't think it's too bad now.

ChocolateCrunch · 11/04/2018 14:25

Quite like it, only know one adult Guy.

AliciaMayEmory · 11/04/2018 14:25

My DH is Guy too. I love it and it really suits him. I can't imagine him being a David or a Paul or any other name of our generation. He did get called Guido at school... 😁

Chickoletta · 11/04/2018 14:20

It's my DH's name. He likes it and you don't come across many others, although there do seem to be a disproportionate number of estate agents called Guy..! ((DH is not one).

windchimesabotage · 11/04/2018 14:11

I love it!
