So my husband and I have recently decided we really like the name Wilf (admittedly this could be hormonal craziness).

However our surname is Wild.

Does this totally veto it or can it work because of the different sound of Wild to Wilf?

So Wilf Wild, yes or no?

Wild would have been a good name for one of those early English popstars like Billy Fury and Georgie Fame. But apparently there was one, Marty Wilde, father of me, Kim!

Wolf Wild is better in terms of beastly, animalistic appeal. By the same token, Bear Wild could work.
Tiger Wild?
Lion Wild?
Bison Wild?
Wildebeest Wild ? (that would be my fave)

If you call your child Wolfric Wild he will grow up assuming you hate him. As will most other people.

Wilfred Wild or Wulfric Wild are both awesome. Wilf is more of a random sound than a name to me for some reason. Is it traditionally a full name or is it a shortening which has become a name in its own right, like Charlie or Harry?

I do not like granny/grandpa -chic names one bit, but Wild is such a fantastic surname for a Wilf, it works. I'd go with Wilfred so he has options - Wilfred Wild is good, Fred Wild works great if he wants to drop the alliteration. Please give him an O middle name so his initials are WOW! Just O will do. When asked, he can say the O is for nothing. Get it?! Grin
I really like the different 'i' sounds together. Short i long i. It's all good! Do it!

Are you hoping for a second child? What on earth could you call a second child that would be as awesome as Wilf Wild?!

Agree that Wild is a v cool surname. Wilf however makes him sound like a fictional character. I’m not sure that something he will appreciate.

Hi OP, my toddler son is called Wilf, so obviously I love it!

I rather like the name Wilf Wild, but in case it influences your decision, be aware that every time I type my son's name, it autocorrects to Wild!

Put it in as a second name and the option is always there to use/include it if you or he prefer.
