Sibling for Merryn

Hello Smile

I’ve namechanged as DD’s name (Merryn) is not very common where I live & i’m currently 7 months pregnant so probably a bit identifiable to anyone that knows me!

We don’t know if we’re having a boy or girl.

Favourite girls names are:
Imogen
Phoebe
Romilly
Cassia

Boys names - am totally stuck. The only one I like at the moment is Flynn. Not sure if it ‘goes’ with Merryn though?

We love the name Merryn and I’ve yet to think of a name that I feel the same about.

What are your opinions on the above choices/other suggestions?

Cucumber I haven’t seen Tangled so I wasn’t aware that Flynn had Disney connections. That’s put me off it quite a bit.

I think Romilly is my favourite so far and is the best ‘fit’ with Merryn. I’m not a big fan of nn’s though and I know I can’t control the use of them but I really dislike Milly - do you think it’s an obvious nn for Romilly or would Romy be more likely to be used? Merry and Milly sound like two farmyard animals on parade Grin

I’m not sure I’d be brave enough to consider Jago and despite DD being called Merryn we have no Cornish connections Blush it was the meaning ‘joyful’ which I loved.

I also like the name Fern but again, am not sure it ‘goes’.

Boys names are impossible! When I was pregnant with DD I liked Theo, Seth & Leo but they are ridiculously popular now, especially the first two.

Out of the girls names, I think Imogen and Phoebe are more popular compared to the other names. Love Romilly.

Flynn works well,with Merry.

IMO Phoebe and Imogen are quite common and if you’re going for a name as unusual as Merryn they don’t fit the bill. I think Romilly is lovely though and much more in style with Merryn.
To me Flynn is a bit Disney (daughter is a Tangled fan🙈 ) and I agree it’s not the same style. I don’t have any suggestions but will be watching the thread closely for boy name inspiration myself!
