What do you think about them? And which version do you prefer?

In the nicest possible way OP if you don’t see that their might be a pronounciation issue you probably shouldn’t be using a name of (probable) Italian origin. As an example a more common name that has similar pronounciation issues is Lucia - can either be Loo-che-a or Loo-see-a.

I like Dulcie. I would pronounce it Dull-see.

There was a character named Dulcie in a Noel Streatfield book but I doubt if anyone today would think of that.

Pronouncing your way sounds a bit like duncey

I would pronounce Dulcie as Dull-sy

Dulcinea I would pronounce Dul-chin-a-uh

So I think you might find others will do ch instead of sy

I don’t like any of these if I’m completely honest op - sorry but I know you want honest opinions.

Dulcie is the best but it makes me think of an elderly lady in a chintzy sitting room with a poodle.

I don’t like any of them.

I met a Dolcie (doll-see) once and i has to ask her mum the name so many times to get the name, it was embarrassing!

I just don’t think it’s a nice sound tbh. Dull-see / doll-see. Don’t know why, it just doesn’t sound nice. The longer versions sound a bit flouncy/ ott to me.

Sorry OP but I'm not keen. I am reminded of Dolcis which was a shoe shop that disappeared from our high streets a few years back.

Like a PP with Dulcie I also think Dulce et Decorum Est which if you’re not familiar with it, is a pretty horrific war poem by Wilfred Owen about a gas attack. Also Dolce Gusto coffee and Dolce and Gabbana.

Dolcie looks made up. Dulcinea/Dulcinia doesn’t sound very nice to me. Presuming you’re pronuncing them in a standard English accent then they managed to both emphasise the ‘Dull’ and sound overlyfrilly at the same time.

Pronunciation absolutely would be a problem. Some people would go for the Italian or Spanish pronunciations of them. Others would be unsure. Your child would have a lifetime of always having to spell and explain her name. Constantly correcting other people.

I've only ever herd of Dulcie from your list.
I have a good friend who is a Dulcie (in her 70s). She constantly has to repeat her name when introducing herself. People always seem to struggle with it. She certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.

I've always really liked Dulcie, so normally I'd recommend that. Dulcinea is very old though, and I like to see old English names coming back, so would love to see that in use as well.

Dulcie is cute, the others sound a little like you got carried away with putting different sounds into it and didn't know where to stop.

The pronunciation issue would be people saying 'ch' for 'c' because they're more familiar with Italian and Latin words like Dolce and dulce, then with these names.

Would not the c be pronounced as ch as it's an Italian name? The word dulce in the war war poem is pronounced as dulche unless my A level English teacher's been pronouncing it incorrectly all these years.
