Lawrence or Arthur

Hi, we have named our ds2 Lawrence Arthur which I really am happy with, but am unsure whether to have him known as Lawrence or Arthur. We’ve been calling him Lawrence but can’t shorten to Lawrie as we already have a ds1 named Ollie. Which name do you think is the nicer or the two: Lawrence or Arthur. He is 7 weeks old at the moment so still time to change. Just really hope he doesn’t get shortened to Loz at school! Really want him to have a name he will love

Arthur and ollie go nicely
Ollie and Lawrence don’t

Overall I think Arthur is a nicer name.

I like both. But living in an area where 'th' is pronounced 'f' rather frequently I'd probably go for Lawrence.

Lawrence definitely. Much nicer imo.
The Lawrence I grew up with was always known by his full name.

My DS is Lawrence. He is known as Lawrence to everyone apart from me, DH and his sister, who call him Lol.

Even from being little, when someone asked him what his name was, he would always say 'Lawrence with a W not a U.

I prefer Lawrence. You could go with Larry as a nickname - very The Durrells, and just ahead/on the curve for naming fashions, I'd say.

I know three Lawrence’s, all known as Lawrence. Arthur is extremely popular at the moment, if that matters to you.

Definitely Lawrence. There are loads of little Arthurs (grandad chic) around.
Arthur could get shortened to Artie anyway, so no much difference between Artie and Lawrie, in terms of similarity with Ollie.

My son is called Lawrence and he's always been very insistent we use his full name. He has an unrelated nick name that we use for him.

Lawrence, although if you don't go with Lawrie as a nickname you might end up with 'Loll' like one of dh's friends. I love all the Arthurian legends but if friends at school etc. shorten it to Arf or Artie (with its inevitable rhyming epithet) it would be quite annoying.
