I like both but I think I would go for Verity. There's only one way to pronounce it and I've heard Juliet pronounced two ways (with the stress on the first syllable of the last) so which ever way you want it to be, chances are people would call her the other.

chezmk1988 · 02/04/2018 17:58

Juliet

Marcipex · 02/04/2018 16:49

Juliet. Because of Ferrety.

OneAndDoneForNow · 02/04/2018 16:12

I prefer Verity personally as I think it's a bit more unusual. I know 2 baby Juliet Elizabeth's just in our very small town who are both under 1!

Highpeak · 02/04/2018 12:09

DD is Juliet, possible shortening don't bother me as I think that's her choice in the future. I call her Jay sometimes. Also not bothered by misspelling occasionally.

I suggested Verity but DH said Ferrity!

JassyRadlett · 02/04/2018 11:04

This was our exact shortlist with likely middle name for DS2.

For what it’s worth I’m pretty sure we would have landed on Verity in the end.

Quickerthanavicar · 02/04/2018 10:58

The difficulty with Juliet is it is very easy for others to shorten. So Julie, Jules etc, if you are ok with this then lovely. Verity I think is lovely.

MrsEricBana · 02/04/2018 10:58

Juliet for me. I like the name Verity but know two, both of whom not at all keen on own name as they think it sounds prissy. I know a very lovely Juliet so I may be biased!

DarkRoomDarren · 02/04/2018 10:54

If we’d had a girl, our Juliet would have been Etta or Letty to us, (for as long as she let us)!

DuggeeHugs · 02/04/2018 10:41

Verity Elizabeth Smile

SugarMiceInTheRain · 02/04/2018 10:38

Juliet Elizabeth sounds fab to me. Both of those were on my shortlist for Dd. I do like Verity too but not as much

user1485182339 · 02/04/2018 10:32

Verity. Juliet is nice, but if you're against shortenings you have to admit it is more likely that Juliet will become Julie or Jules than Verity would become Vera.
Ferret? Kids pick on other kids not because of their names, but because of other reasons. It's not a reason not to choose a name, unless you already foresee that your unborn child is likely to be an outcast for her entire school career, for whatever reason. And that would be weird.
I've known a handful of Verity's but many more Jul-versions, so for rarity (see what I did there? Har har) I'd probably go for Verity for that reason too.
It's got an 'ee' sound on the end which fits in with the idea of 'cute' on a baby, but as a whole name it is really dignified and pleasing as an adult or teenager.

Verity is more unusual.

TheCriminalMind · 02/04/2018 01:06

Juliet! I think Juliet Elizabeth sounds lovely.

gossipgirl28 · 02/04/2018 00:59

Juliet is very classy! Verity sounds old to me and would be shortened to Vera. Baby Vera doesn't sound right x

Joeybee · 02/04/2018 00:48

I like them both. Juliet would probably annoy me because of the alternate spellings people would use. So Verity - it's nice and underused but classy and elegant.

SleightOfMind · 01/04/2018 23:53

Love Julia and all it’s diminutives but doesn’t work with our surname.

Verity is ok but a bit worthy.

Anythingforacatslife · 01/04/2018 23:39

Both lovely. However my dd misheard Verity, who is a friend of my ds. She is now forever destined to be known as Rarity (as in her favourite my little pony) and so we would choose Juliet.

AnyaMoondial · 01/04/2018 23:25

Juliet

immortalmarble · 01/04/2018 23:19

Both lovely but I slightly prefer Juliet Verity if that helps at all.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 01/04/2018 23:18

Lovely choices OP. I probably prefer Juliet of the two. Verity can sounds a bit like ferrety, but I still like it Grin

TroubledLichen · 01/04/2018 23:17

Hands down Juliet!

MadMaryBoddington · 01/04/2018 23:17

Juliet. Verity is fussy and twee.

electricblue2017 · 01/04/2018 23:12

We are calling our soon to be born DD Juliet Elizabeth
