Makes me think only of scotch whisky. If I heard of a child called Jura I would assume her parents were big drinkers.

I know of a Jura. I think the dad was from Bangladesh? Never heard it before or since elsewhere.

Seeing it written down I just think of whisky. Hearing it though makes me think of dura and brain surgery so not keen! There are lots of beautiful Scottish names to choose from though.

I thought of the French mountains. And would want to say it with that Z sound that sneaks into French 'J's. I don't think it works well as a personal name. Whatever about an island, I definitely would not want my parents to call me after a whisky or other booze

Sorry, not a good choice I'm afraid. My first thought was the company Jura who make (very) expensive coffee machines. Iona would be better but Jura doesn't work at all.

My first thought was Ser Jorah Mormont from Game Of Thrones... it's pronounced Jura (to my ear at least.) I don't know if that's a positive or negative for you. And he's a male character.

I wouldn't personally chose it as for me it falls into the 'not really a name' category. But we can't all like the same things and if I met a little Jura I'd probably not give it a second thought 🙂
