For a girl. Thoughts? Also how would you pronounce it? TIA Smile

I think it's pretty

Topseyt · 29/03/2018 03:03

No! Not for me. I wouldn't call a child Laundry Detergent.

It is also far too Disney.

nalalama · 29/03/2018 02:28

I love it! Was on my list but I had a boy though I would have spelt it Aryel

haverhill · 28/03/2018 22:44

Washing powder, sorry. Aerin?

SleepingStandingUp · 28/03/2018 22:41

Buxbaumof brilliant. I was looking forqard to it but thought id missed it, it was crap, and had gone straight to dvd

DelphiniumBlue · 28/03/2018 22:39

No-one else thinking of Ariel Bender??

Buxbaum · 28/03/2018 22:36

That one wasn't Disney. It's a big live-action remake of the Disney cartoon in the mould of Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast.

SleepingStandingUp · 28/03/2018 22:15

Hadn't it already gone straight to dvd?

Buxbaum · 28/03/2018 21:05

Be aware that a live-action Disney remake of The Little Mermaid is in the works and therefore likely to come out just as the child starts school...

InterstellarSleepingElla · 28/03/2018 20:46

Pretty name, my first thought was the Little Mermaid and I hear it pronounced like Sebastian pronounced it arr - ree - ell

sluj · 28/03/2018 20:37

Brilliant song by Dean Friedman. Must be on You Tube??

RidingWindhorses · 28/03/2018 20:33

Another suggestion would be Meriel. Which actually sounds more like Ariel.

RidingWindhorses · 28/03/2018 20:31

I fucking hate Disney, so any reference would pass me by - the central association to me is the Tempest and a famous biography of Shelley.

RidingWindhorses · 28/03/2018 20:27

It's a great name - damn shame about the washing powder and TVs.

Ariella is lovely though.

neighbourhoodwitch · 28/03/2018 20:19

love it.

paulweller73Murielswedding · 28/03/2018 20:17

Just no. It's a brand of washing powder.

Claricestarling1 · 28/03/2018 20:06

Air-ee-elle. My 15 year old self used to love this name!! Now it just seems a bit silly (sorry). But if you love it who cares what anyone else thinks!! 👍

NoSquirrels · 28/03/2018 20:05

Washing powder

Little Mermaid

Trapeze artist Grin

RaindropsAndSparkles · 28/03/2018 20:01

I have Jewish antecedents. It's a boy's Hebrew name. Zipporah is a girl's name. Grin.

Aurelia might be worth a though. Or Arianna?

Smoliver · 28/03/2018 19:55

I like it. As for the Disney connotations, people are naming their daughter's Belle, Jasmine, Aurora, even Elsa!

If you like Ariel, go for it!

Lobsterquadrille2 · 28/03/2018 18:33

Love it. I have a Miranda, and considered Ariel. I know of two, both girls (not in the UK).

loobywench · 28/03/2018 17:44

My first thought was washing powder sorry

Aprilmightmemynewname · 28/03/2018 17:42

Next time how about Daz for a boy?

RapunzelIsHere · 28/03/2018 17:39

Well it’s very Disney so I personally wouldn’t use it. I would pronounce it like they do in the film.

I’ve read on here recently that it’s traditionally a boy’s name.

And there’s the teasing that may ensue because of the washing powder and...car aerial...

ReversingSnail · 28/03/2018 17:34

Laundry.

Aria?
